I have been hospitalized once and in ER 3 other times for disappearing from this world. My body is limp and it is like I am asleep but my eyes are moving a hundred times an hour. an I do some weird things with my hands an arms and talk to others that aren't there. Of course this is what my wife and kids tell me. They finally told me that I am having Pseudo-seizures and they are not anything to worry about. But it scares the Blank out me and the family. Has anyone else had these darn things??? Had you figured out your trigger for them??? They happen to me at home an work.

Yes, I had severe pseudo-seizures for a long time (almost 10 years). I was 45 when they started and they were brought on by a DV incident. I had no idea I had this type of issue.

They are something to worry about. It changes your life, the lives of people around you, your ability to take care of yourself.... so many things.

How long have you had them? Do you have a good trauma therapist?

About 6 months but only been total what is happening about a week ago. Can't figure out the trigger for them. Have you figured yours as of yet???
This is crazy one minute here in the real world next a zombie / wet noodle limp. Have you had it happen when driving or anything super important. ??? How has it changed your life????

You don't want to know. And mine was super severe, so may not actually be the outcome of yours.

No, it didn't affect my driving, however I gave up driving for over a year (more because of dissociative stuff). The trigger for me was recovering memories due to domestic violence that went on for some time. So the DV happened, and once I was safe from that I started with the pseudo seizures.

I would suggest finding yourself a good trauma therapist. Also, there is other stuff on the board that speaks about pseudo seizures, catatonic behaviour (if you into states where you can't move your body), dissociation as well. See if anything speaks to you in those threads.

By all means, I will still answer on this thread.... but just thought a few more references may help you get a more rounded view.

I've had them. For 21/2 years I had them. They called them PNES Psychogenic Non-Epileptic Seizures, Psuedoseizures, Coversion Disorder etc.
Did every test in the world on me and I've been abused all of my life and have PTSD. Anxiety, used to have panic attacks, and in the past had one dissociative episode about 6 years ago.
And then 3 weeks ago I was diagnosed with Dissociative Identiy Disorder. They were never seizures. They were flashbacks. I was acting out my flashbacks and what I was doing during my attacks when I was a child being abused. It just connected during one of them...I became aware of reality and my flashback at the same time...like I was in two places at the same time. The next day my Dr. diagnosed me. I just don't know how to feel.

I often talked about this with my T. Years ago. I swore I was DID with my infant self. This is a very interesting post to me because my gut was that I was DID but I was told DDNOS.

It takes time to really let the information for this type of a diagnosis to set in. What does it mean? What are the chances of integrating? How do I live my life from here? So many questions.

Good for you for seeking answers. I hope you can find what you are looking for Lexialexa. Much respect for your journey.
