I take Sertraline and up until my diagnosis of longQT Syndrome I was micro dosing cannabis.
The only reason I stopped micro dosing cannabis is because my twin brother had a LongQT event after micro dosing cannabis.
I was talking to one of my cardiologist about micro dosing cannabis. He didn't say that there was a risk involved with taking cannabis and didn't say there was a bad reaction between Sertraline and Cannabis.
The side effects with Sertraline can be nausea and headaches. It can be lack of appetite or a very healthy appetite. Most people will experience some nausea with Sertraline and some people may even find that the nausea is too much but those side effects are often just in the beginning of taking Sertraline. Hopefully your Doctor will start you at 25mg or no more than 50mgs to start.
If you are thinking about taking cannabis along with Sertraline I would start low with cannabis. It is possible that taking cannabis along with Sertraline may enhance the side effects or enhance the effectiveness of Sertraline and you may actually find that your tolerance with cannabis is lower.
So my recommendation is start low. If you find that the side effect to Sertraline is too much stop taking cannabis and consult with your Doctor.
When it comes to cannabis starting low can never steer you wrong. I myself might start taking cannabis again but I have to wait until I am being treated for my heart condition first.
I find that people's bias can often times impede the ability to really find accurate information regarding cannabis and mixing it with other medications. All I know is that my Cardiologist didn't say I couldn't take cannabis with Sertraline and with my heart condition. That could be because there isn't enough research to know accurately on how it may interact and you will find conflicting messages from Doctors.
The one thing I would recommend is to not drink alcohol with Sertraline or any anti depressant until you believe you are stable. It may take two to three months to find stability with Sertraline.
