Service dog quickly and somewhat low cost

Hi there,

I was wondering if anyone knew of an organization that could provide a service dog somewhat quickly (5-6 months?) and for a relatively low cost ($5000 or so.)

I am going back to school in the fall, and even the thought of it is causing my PTSD to get out of control. I've explored several options for doing this successfully, and after a lot of research I think that a service animal might be good to keep me on track-- getting me to go to sleep and wake up at the right time, waking from nightmares, panic alert, safety, etc.

Does anyone have an organization that they trust that may be able to work this quickly?

I don't know of one. I was told it would be 5 yrs or more on a waiting list. Many asked if I was a veteran as I guess many make exceptions for veterans. I am owner training and came across many trainers that boast about helping a veteran train a SD. And thats great, but most with PTSD aren't veterans but whatever.

Good luck and be careful. I'd go on the waiting list but research these places throughly. Read what other teams have to say about them that have gotten SDs through them.

There are "Boost camps" that train dogs in a few months. You bring the dog and you have to be there. I have some names that others have advised me of but I don't know anything about them so I don't want to post the names. Just research, reseach, research. Cause, unless the dog is already very well trained for public access, it takes longer then a few months to train a service dog. If just tasks then ok but not to socialize the dog to as many situations service dogs need to be socialized to. That takes way longer.
