Nicely put Red mucker.
My Wings, my Dagger and my crossed swords I earnt with blood and sweat. And anybody who saw them knew what you had done.
You didn`t get them for being in the right place at the right time. Being on Ops and seeing your oppo`s wearing badges like that, or even crossed rifle`s or crossed flags, you knew that you had an ace up your sleeve. Having a guy prancing around with a campaign medal, because he spent 30 days in theatre driving the CO around from one Esch to another doesn`t/didn`t mean shit.
`
I would hate to get a medal for what happened to me.
I joined up to be a Soldier, and the shity end of the stick goes with the turf. It`s what we do, and having my oppo`s respect me for who I was was, was/is allways worth more than some piece of metal to hang on my chest.
Guess it all comes back round to what the army has become today. All the unfair treatment in Training and all that.
At the end of the day. YOU chose the job, YOU decided to join the military, so why don`t YOU stop bitching and get on with YOUR job. It`s not like there was a hidden clause in the contract YOU signed. FFS. It exactly like the "DANGER MONEY" some countries pay when you go to a combat zone. ?WTF it`s YOUR f*cking job, it`s what YOU wanted from life!
If at the end of the day, Being respected by the Oppo`s in your multiple, being fed, being given a roof over your head and getting a regular wage and being taught Respect and Hanour ain`t enough. Then you chose the wrong f*cking job.
Go join Wallmart, and have your picture put up as Employee of the month, if thats what floats your boat.
