Simple Aroma Therapy To Calm Mind And Body

I want to thankyou Amethist I used this tonight... minus the palma rosa, I have to try to get some of that I think. I did have geranium and rose and lavandar though and it helped me all day. I dotted some onto a thing I use to wear on my wrist and I used it to upsweep my hair with.. so I smelt it all day.. it was amazing thankyou. Oh and I wore a flower a very deep red one in my hair today also.

Glad it helped.

But be careful with the strong 3 oil mix as it is only meant for use when you are in a bad state and are at the point of needing strong meds like Diazepam or something on that line or on the verge of having a major crisis.

It won't do you any harm but it is way too strong to use just as a relaxing oil, it will knock you out and you will sleep like a baby or as my husband says be away with the fairy's.

I am going to post up how aroma therapy oils work on stress next so we can all get an idea how they work so well.

How good did you feel wearing red. Orange or yellow can lift your spirits if your are feeling just a bit down.

Looks like i am going to have to do a colour therapy post as well now lol. Why not if anybody is interested just shout, not too loud though. But i only know the basics so far with colour, I've got lots of info so i can always read up.

How it works and a word of warning.

Please be very careful with all the incense or essential oils used in aroma.

They are very strong and powerful, you would be surprised how many flowers it takes for a single small bottle of oil.

When using them put the top back on the bottle securely and try not to spill them on anything as they can do some damage to things like polished wood and metals. They can even put a hole in space age plastic which is supposed to be indestructible. :eek:

So please take care.

Now for how it works.

It's their intense effect on the human smell, or as the boffins say the Olfactory System, that makes them a good choice for help in reliving stress.

Smell is the only major sense we have that that bypasses the Neo Cortex part of our brain, but goes directly to the oldest parts or "Reptilian Brain" and its this part that has a lot to do with how we experience things especially stress and danger.

Aroma Therapy oils get straight in there,and cuts through every thing, it's said it is a bit like a slap in the face to snap you out of it but a lot more pleasant, calming and soothing. I know which i prefer, this is surly a nice way to de-stress. :thumbs-up

This is an old Chinese proverb i found about oils from big trees like Pine, Cedar Wood or Cypress.

In moments of real stress,
Do not pray for less stress,
But a stronger back.

If anybody thinks yea right it not that good this aroma therapy thing, try this;- :smile:

Put a lime or a lemon some where close by, and when you feel just a bit of stress creeping up on you, pick it up, give it a gentle squeeze , roll it in your hands and then inhale the smell for a short time and see how you feel then. If that works imagine how well the oil would work. :wink:

A bit late but an update especially for all your guys who don't like the flowery stuff, and no it is not beans and beer as suggested by someone who I will not embarrass by naming them.

So if you want something a bit more manly so to speak, why not try Bergamot, Juniper Berry or Patchouli or even Sandalwood, though this one can be expensive. They all have a musky type base to them, that's the manly bit. But what you can do in most good shops that sell these, is to smell the testers that are usually open for you to get a better idea of what they are like. Don't forget to ask for advise too, if it is a reputable shop they should be able to guide you.

Which ever you choose please do not forget to take note of the warnings and information already posted above. This is for your own safety and so I cannot be blamed for mistakes.

Seriously, I did buy lavender and geranium oils. I use a simle "burner" made for candles. Uses a small candle to heat the top part, which I dilute with water.

Does smell flowery but a good aroma and I like it too.
Or should I admit that? :dontknow:
 
Oh yes the therapy is good, depending of course which way you use them.

If you want a boost in other ways, to get in the mood so to speak try Ylang Ylang it works a treat when the mood it right, especially if you use it in a burner with a bit of Rose.

Wedding Anniversary coming up, time to use my own advise.

That's the the best therapy I know lol.

You can buy these essential oils in a lot of places, but the best shops to go to are probably a new age shop or like you said a good health food store. Shops that sell thing like Crystals and incense sticks are probably the best. But make sure they are of good quality, they are not all very expensive though some can be like Sandalwood.

You could google shops that sell essential oils in your area. As this way you usually find the better quality oils.

It is, but not much point having the therapy if the therapist has no idea what they are doing. :wink: :rofl:
