The SSO is now installed across the network for final testing under live conditions. It has been thoroughly tested and put through it paces before installation here. I do not envisage any issues, as I have also been testing it across the network for the past few hours.
IMPORTANT: If you do not understand any aspect, it is imperative you ask here, to ensure you have a complete understanding.
What Is SSO?
It allows you to register once, on any of the network sites, then login on any other network site without having to register again. Simple as that.
What If I Have Existing Registrations On Other Network Sites?
For those previously registered members who may have different usernames across sites, all you need ensure is that your email address is the same on each site, preferably password as well. You can login on each site using your existing username.
If you have a reason to be on another network site that you have not ever registered upon, or logged in upon, then you should login with the account username you prefer to be known by, because if you have two usernames on two different sites, same email, the username you login with for the first time on a new network site, will become that sites username.
Let me give you an example.
ptsdforum.org you use peachfuzz
mysexabuse.com you use fuzzy
Both use the same email address, thus they are actually now linked by your email.
You have never registered or logged in at myomgdate.com. When you do so the first time, you can use either username, as both are actually the one account.
Once you have used one though, say you logged in with fuzzy. If you tried logging in with peachfuzz, the account would automatically login with fuzzy, being the email linked to that username on that site.
I Can't Login On x Site With My Username
If you have a username that someone else has already registered upon another site, lets say an easy one, John. There may be one John on this site, with a unique email, another John on mycombatptsd.com with another email.
Basically, there is going to be a clash. The person with the name registered upon PTSD Forum is the person who takes priority to keep that name, because PTSD Forum is the master account in which all other sites connect with and slave upon.
That is a decision already made.
So if you have such a name on say... mycombatptsd.com, try to login at PTSD Forum and cannot because the name is already gone, then you need to use the contact form on the main site you use, outline you can't login at x site and a check will be done on your username.
Basically, you may have to accept a slight change in your username, a letter or number added to it. There will be no radical changes done to usernames, and again, the master account on PTSD hold precedence.
Am I Automatically Registered On Every Other Site?
No. You actually don't become registered on another site until you login on that site with your username.
New registrations are not an issue, as they are registered under the new SSO system, thus conflicts cannot occur with new registrations on other sites.
Existing members are the only issue with possible conflicts.
Will My Profile Be The Same On Every Site?
No. Only your most basic information is used.
If you are banned on one site, you are not banned on another.
Your permissions on one site do not reflect your permissions on another site.
