Sleepwalking and nightmares

It’s been quite some time since I had experienced a nightmare like this. It’s not something many would consider scary but for me the feelings it evoked, the sick pit in my stomach and the desire to escape was visceral. Childhood sexual trauma is ruining my adult life. Nightmares were followed by sleepwalking which I’ve not done in years. Idk how to get away from it. It’s harder to dissociate and I can’t stop it from bleeding everywhere else.

My brother was a bad sleep walker. I cant say for sure. But I think you are going to sleep with too much on your mind. Your body wants to keep working though it even when your mind has checked out. There are many medications for this. Personally I think you need a way to destress at the end of the day. Listen to soothing music for you go to sleep. Have a drink or just vent your concerns into the void. I personally have night terrors from childhood trauma. Not venting it out will make it manifest out without your permission. You need to get these things out of your head. This is a safe place to do so. I hope you find some peace here.

I definitely sleepwalk more when I'm having periods of higher stress, or processing trauma. I need to be religious about my sleep hygiene or it can get really dysfunctional!
