Hey Sazza,
I've tried many different antids over the years (tricyclics and ssris) since my mid-20s when I first seemed to have depression. Now think, via my therapist, that what I actually have is dissociation periods, which the medication may help me to get through - who knows! I've found they all seem to work for me but often only properly around the three month mark. The last two or so dissociation/depression periods I went to the highest possible dose of antid and this may have helped shift me out of this shut-down period. I never know what affects what but I do know that eventually I come out of it and at the least the medication seems to help diminish suicidal feelings for me. In the three month period of waiting I feel for the most part very anxious and numb.
Hope this helps.
