Poll Superpowers Or Personality? Flight V Invisibility

Ed gives lots of good reasons for only flying in the country! Not a lot of air traffic around here. And not so many power lines. It is not cold flying when it is 100 degrees out! And anyhow, that's what they make thinsulate and gortex for!

I manage to feel and act invisible, but flight would be my dream. You know how you have dreams of flying (well, if you do)? I had those for years, then a dream that I was teaching someone else how to fly. I woke up and I was still stuck to the earth and invisible.

Ok definitely invisibility.

If you're the only one who can fly, you will become an oddity that attracts attention. (PTSD girls nightmare!!!) so you'd have to keep it hush hush, fly in private, etc or risk attention, being scrutinized, and losing all privacy.

Invisibility being a dream coupled with flight being a nightmare, gotta go with invisibility. I value my privacy above all else so aside from moving to the middle of nowhere and flying only when no one can see me......gotta go with invisibility. What good is a superpower I have to hide and rarely use?

@itsKismet That is always my line of thinking.

When someone asks me if I could have one superpower, what would it be? I always ask, "Do I have to hide it?" My answers are extremely different based on whether it needs to be a secret. If I'm a freak in a world full of other freaks, I'd be happy to have flashy powers. If I have to hide? Teleportation all the way, every time. I could walk into a closet and walk out of a Starbucks broom closet or something.

And then a long conversation about the limitations of said powers invariably follows... :rolleyes:

@Simply Simon, I don't know about teleportation being good for hiding, I mean, seems a highly unpredictable form of transport, always at risk of breaking things, always pissing the wrong guy off and -- right this also isn't a geek unite thread. Cough.

@Cashew It's all in the details. I would still take even Nightcrawler's teleportation (only where you can see) over any other super power if I had to hide my power. I have PTSD, after all. It would be the perfect way to get out of a dangerous situation and an easy power to hide for the most part.

I pick invisibility. I could sneak into movies and if I wanted to just be unnoticed I could just be invisible.

hahahaha Now I'm flashing on that episode of Big Bang where the girlfriends go to the comic book store while the guys are out of town because they want to get more involved in the guys interests. The episode continues by showing the girlfriends arguing about the powers of the super heroes and trying to use logic and reason to defend their position on said superpowers. It was pretty comical. (Although I think BBT has jumped the shark in the last few seasons.)
