To ALL of you who continue to support and strengthen my resolve, even though I do not post that much, I especially thank you.
Some people mistakenly believe, in my opinion, that sufferers can not be supporter of others. And at times (again in my opinion) mistakenly believe that being a supporter/friend to one with PTSD is purely some kind of altruistic endeavor.
I fully believe that we all, supporters and sufferers alike, operate from a risk-reward (or loss-gain) base. Meaning simply that there has to be enough personal benefit in order for us to invest ourselves in others. And no, that never means that we, in any given relationship, have to give as much as we receive, just that all lasting and valuable ones are two-way, some give and some take.
I of course am at the moment not giving that much to any of you, just a 'like' for a post or the occasional acknowledgement and thank you. But nonetheless all of you "step out of yourselves and your own hardships" to encourage me with your words and to lift my spirits with your images. And in so doing you disprove the myth, in my opinion, that sufferers can not support others while suffering themselves.
You ALL have been so wonderful to me and I hope, in some small way, I can return such comforting support - though I do not wish any of you to be in this situation, but I do realize that indeed some of you are. My back radiation treatments will likely start on Monday unless my kidney test results are a problem. One tiny step forward to the end goal of "the big brain operation" and going home...I can not believe that as of today, I have been incarcerated in this hellish place for 8 whole months!!! Ugh!!!
So here is some LOVE:
And here is my personal and refreshing THANK YOU:
With great warmth and regards,
Alex
