Tee Shirt, Etc Fund Raising For The Forum

So while I should have been sleeping I was designing a humorous holiday themed PTSD shirt for myself. I then started to discuss it in chat, where the idea bloomed into possibly designing tee shirts, etc with the forum logo and/or other design as a way of helping to raise funds for the forum. I know that there are those of us who would like to give back to the forum, and this could possibly be a great way to do so while spreading PTSD awareness.

@Simply Simon has a good idea for a design, but I'll let her elaborate on it.

@Santa_Laurie has volunteered to look into tee shirt, etc pricing in the UK (and internationally as well).

There were a number of ideas thrown around, such as having members submit design ideas and then we all can vote on them.

Of course, Anthony, the LAST thing we want to do is put more on your plate, so I'm not asking you to do much of anything but approve of this endeavor....and it doesn't have to be an all or nothing approval. I guess what I mean to say is that at first we'd like to have your approval to start exploring this option as a way of raising funds for the forum, and then if we find out its feasible, then we can move on from there. I think a number of us feel the stress of the ad issue as raising enough funds for the forum is a monthly issue. Well, at least I know I do...

Is this something that would be possible? Thoughts? Ideas? Any business minded members out there?

I give this idea by @Solara my full support as a fund raising idea and offer my services to research manufacturing costs and international shipping costs.

I looove this idea, and I want one yesterday!

My idea was for the back of the shirt. I've gotten really into apparel that riffs on Britain's wartime slogan of KEEP CALM and CARRY ON. I want the back of the shirt to say KEEP CALM and STAY GROUNDED.

I think this is a great idea. If it's done through something public as well, like RedBubble for instance others who aren't even from the site may contribute by buying a PTSD awareness or other themed shirt or product.:)

I dabble in screen printing so I can help look into printers with an idea of how their setups work, or look into blank costs to see what items may or may not be more feasible. There are also some printers, normally smaller operations, who will do the printing for a lower cost if you supply the blanks, things like that. Which depending on what the initial order looks like may be worthwhile (some printers have difficulty supplying plus sized blanks, for one example).

I can also get @Santa_Laurie his boxing gloves if he really wants them. I know a martial arts customization shop. :D

The profit margin of t-shirts can be quite high, so this could be a good solution for fundraising. There are numerous possible structures to look at for doing something like this.

I've helped a couple of groups launch fundraisers and do things just like this, nationally and internationally. If the owners of MyPTSD support this and give all the proper permissions, I would be glad to help as well!

Commercial funding gains to the forum. Structured therapeutic involvement for those working together on a common goal. Mass promotion potentiality for PTSD suffering. Exposure to the public of the silent killer PTSD truly is.

I remember the forum used to sell forum themed items to help raise funds and no one bought them.

@Ayesha maybe it would be different if it were a member initiative. The sense of personal involvement may boost interest.

Again although it would have a lower profit margin RedBubble (or a similar service, though this is one of the most popular) would mean that no stock had to be kept on retainer and would be versatile as to the purpose/size/colour etc, etc.

@Kas_Can_Fly I think that any option wherein no stock needs to be kept would be best. The problem, I think, is how it's billed. How to get funds from the company you order it from to the site?
