Toolkit: Handling Being Out & About

An Apache tear is a small polished piece of obsidian (volcanic glass), it is solid black, but can been seen through when held up to the light. Legend has it that these were the tears of the Native Americans who were marched out the trail of tears. It is kinda like a worry stone, I suppose. It is supposed to help with protection and to get in good with the nature spirits etc.

I am part Cherokee, so this goes along with my beliefs. Here is a link with a little more information...
The Killing Joke

I had problems walking around my daughter's school today, but it's much better.

When it was sooooo hard at first, I thought it would be that hard forever. It's kinda amazing how much better it has gotten. Though, I keep forgetting how much worse it used to me.

I'm still very triggered by kids screaming. I'm hoping EMDR helps with that.

I need my pocketbook....which ALWAYS contains:

-lavender oil/aromatherapy stick

-water (I have a Bobble....pretty obsessed)

-Klonopin (I'll admit it)

-hairbrush

-chapstick

-CELL PHONE!!!! (sometimes keep this stashed in my bra in case I get robbed!)

-wallet with money, just in case

-pepper spray!!!

I keep a pepper spray as well. It's miniature and is on my keychain, so it's not obvious.

-call phone, with bluetooth, so I can listen to the radio.

-crystals, which change most days depending on what I need most. Always have at least one piece of black tourmaline on me, to protect from other peoples verbal attacks. You never know when someone is going to just vomit all over you and take their stress out on you.

-water in a bottle

-a book, if I remember to pack one.

-lip balm which doubles as a burn and cut gel too.

-money

As my trust in myself has gotten better, I can now just put on some shoes, grab my purse and go.

The need to obsessively plan has gone away.

I still do add items automatically as needed, but it's ok if I forget things.

My toolkit has become internalized and I have many effective skills to use as needed.
