Latest update..... started doing the Salsa.....whoo hooo.......and even a turn.
Have the Rumba down pat for our level (beginner), learned another Fox Trot Step, I still suck at the Waltz
and did a bit of the Tango but we both forget it so we can't practise it at home yet. Not bad for 4 weeks. We have a lot of credits up for group sessions so we best start using those now we don't look so bad on the dance floor.
Tonight we attend our first 'group' dance class. So we got to be klutz with someone we didn't know
We learned the basics for Tango Argentina and then got into some fast basic Salsa. :D
I danced with Jerry who kept ending up with me against the glass walls , Peter who was much shorter than me but a very good leader, Jason who was in the middle of the other two counting out loud and then some hunk of a guy named Anthony :inlove:. Us ladies got taught how to do the 'flick, flick' between the guy's legs and then the smoosh smoosh by rubbing our leg up and down the male leg (the aim to show some sock :roflmao:).
Interesting compared to one on one lessons. Our teacher was really good and made the steps very clear with her dance instructions and had a great personality.
It was a bit of pressure to step up with the dancing by being with someone you didn't know and actually having to follow the lead.
We did so many Salsa spins it was hard to walk out of there upright but all and all a good night.
Well, we had our first personal dance lessons in weeks and surprising remembered the Rumba and the Waltz surprising ourselves and our new instructor. The new instructor was better, she is more experienced and she actually 'controlled' our lessons more than when we had the last one and tended to "direct the class".:rolleyes:
We did a bit of Cha Cha but found it too quick, we have agreed we prefer the slower styles and then worked on some Tango Arg with Anthony blitzing it and me taking a little longer but no stepped on toes but really sore hips. It's actually interesting dancing with a female dance instructor versus male (previous) as they definitely move their hips more and you can really feel it even when they are playing "the male".
An hour goes fast and I wanted to do some more practising but it seems I get bowled over very quickly as there is actually a lot to take in mentally if you are not more naturally inclined like my hunk of a dance partner (must get his number :inlove:). Anyway, tomorrow we are off to a group class and have no idea what we will be learning but the instructor for those classes is heaps of fun.
