I loved the book as well although it horrified me in parts. I'm pleased I read it. Once again I only read it because it was chosen. It wasn't a book I'd have even picked up.
 
I'm not sure what made me pick it up (I actually didn't catch that the Book Club had chosen it). But once I did, it sat for quite awhile. I finally started it when I went out of town, as something to take along on a short trip. I'm not sure who suggested this one, but it was an excellent selection, particularly for us.

I'm at the point now where Louie has come home, married, and is wrestling with the aftermath. They've named it as PTSD in the book, but I wonder if they truly knew that then. I didn't think the term was coined at that point. "Shell shock", maybe. Same hell, different label.
