Us In The Crap After Wikileaks Documents

Adam, 'Blue Collar Comedy'? Hahahahaha? Ron White had a POINT, too, he'll be good as new..

I'd have never thought you were a "Tater Salad" kinda girl, Anni! HA!

I'm thinking that it's built into this life for things to not be fair. I just don't think that fairness is truly possible, and it seems that even our best efforts to be fair always alienate someone. I do agree that people who make these decisions get cold, they don't listen to reason, they're just being paid to follow the rules...blah, blah, blah.

I wish common sense could enter in, but for some reason, the bigger the government the less room there is for deviation from whatever stricture they use to determine guilt. I guess this serves the majority, but there are people who should be in jail who are jailed, and those who shouldn't be released who are free.

This all reminds me of Hitlers hold on his government. There were Nazi's who weren't bad people, they just were doing what they were told...

Dang, wish I could edit....should say "those who should be jailed are not" and heck, I'm not even sure "stricture" is a word!

HA back! I'm going to get a crayon, write "Free Tator Salad" on a T-shirt and go stand in front of a jail somewhere until someone hauls me off somewhere, someday. That's still one of the fall-down, single funniest bits ever in the history of stand-up, although I often think Ron White would be a pain in the neck to live with. Seems to drink a tad, and is slightly too comfortable talking about various bodily functions and, er, bits. :) Oh well, somehow he makes those hysterical, too, like the guy on the cruise with the Speedo and the squirrel?

Common sense translating as balance balance balance, Hitler ( there's a book, Hitler's Willling Executioners, worth a read. makes the point without the usual grandstanding ) , yes- would have thanked that post twice, Adam. This BALANCE thing we all have to cope with, recognize, comprehend, counter as well as we can when so skewed in a unbalanced world- key.

Oh and...I wouldn't say America is heading towards communism...Rather, keeping in mind the tea party etc., it seems to be developing its own brand of fascism...Though arguably, extreme communism (ie Stalinism) and fascism are really not that different.

The news this morning isn't making me insane, mostly, anyway. It IS satisfying to know he's finally in custody. I do not mean from any punative, 'he'll get his just wait' perspective', but from knowing he's just plain not going to get away with this nonense. It's an answer to the question " Good Grief, how far can this sort of thing GO in the end? ". This far, apparently. The whining has started, already, so am making a mental note not to become swept up in listening to, hence becoming enraged by those who would make Freedom of Speech a tawdry joke in aid of their own viscious, self-agrandizing agendas. Paypal and other corps have of course pulled ads ( read financial ability to 'leak' ) from Wikileaks, which of course has caused tantrums on the part of those who unfathomably still support this capitol N Ninny. Ok, perhaps it's completely fathomable and in fact clear as pee since one would suspect their indignation has little to do with principal and much to do with cash.

I said 'pee' on purpose, since it didn't seem appropriate to use cystal, which is general a pretty, pure substance and pee an excrement more in keeping with murky intent. Please excuse the visuals. :)

Wow. I just caught the long version of this 'retaliation'. The implications are massive and as frightening, I think as anything we've seen in this century, quite honestly. Power/money money/power, or are the lines blurred? I'm extremely interested to hear what others read on this group is.

I think wikileaks are genius... they should be applauded for what they do. It is not released that America has nothing to charge them with, and it seems these sexual charges in Sweden are mostly bogus / hyped by the media and far from the truth of what has happened.

The US soldier who downloaded all the sensitive material... well, their screwed and will be charged. But wikileaks itself has no fault by publishing the documents it now seems, which I already presumed, considering the media do it every day and have a right of protection to protect their sources and publicise any factual information presented to them. What they publish is up to them.

The difference though is that the media spin it from its initial truth to sell papers / books, etc... wikileaks publish the original, no spin, and charge nothing for it.

I quite honestly support what wikileaks does. Did anyone ever watch the US helicopter attack, killing two Reuters journalists? It publishes the stories and statements made, then what you see in fact happen, very different things.

Go wikileaks.

Wikileaks is still dangerous imho. Even though they operate as unbiased reporting, the truth is those facts do get twisted and spun before most people hear of it, and I'd think there would be half of the story that the wikileakers missed.... I don't follow wikileaks, hell, I don't even watch the news, but I imagine most opinion forming majority types get their information from the news after the spin has been applied?

I totally agree with their existance though....we need more watchdogs and less spin doctors!

Yes, the media are only spinning specific aspects, as they do... for viewing $$$. But yes, the wikileaks site itself, atleast provides the full document as disclosed, no alterations, which is nice to see the full truth. These things aren't a surprise to me... any ex military will tell you, what happens and what the public hear, two very different things. These documents are no shock to me... I've seen it all before, as any ex military would have.

I would not like to be the poor soldier though who did the downloading at work... that is treason.

I fully support Wikileaks. What they are doing, needs to be done. No spins on the information, just flat out disclosed information. The truth is something that we have lost world wide. I also feel bad for that soldier, as he's screwed and the American government is all about ignoring any form of human rights.

In all fairness, we have a few rights, from our govenment. I like quite a few of them. I loathe this sort of thing- who could not- across the board but this sort of abuse and cover-up is not exclusive to the USA, however outrageous the occurances have been. There have been others, by those speaking an entire Tower of Babble of languages. The Constitution might be a little whifty in places but it's sort of held up well for a 200+ year old document. No tax on tea, for instance, kinda started the whole thing rolling in a big way, by way of self-governance.There are some others worth mentioning but suffice to say our government is not entirely composed of those opposed to all forms of human rights. I'm a huge critic of the less humane forces in our govenrment, which wax and wane through administrations- they tend to translate into societal norms which are tough as crap to budge. We also have some appaling injustices here, but also some great and genuine freedoms which are not just lip service. The US, or at least one of us, was behind this atrocity, to be sure. I'm just saying for one thing, our country is not exclusive in these horrible occurances-I'm not defending or excusing it, but historically we do not hold the monopoly on brutalizing our fellow man. For another well, just thought it would be in the interests of er-exactness, perhaps to point out our government is not alllll about ignoring human rights.
