It's still a project in progress, but I got started tonight. Dad gave mom an arrangement that consists of a dozen silk roses, some greenery, and little flowers many decades ago and they sat in the corner of her living room for years on a really high shelf. She requested they be brought to the nursing home, but they were incredibly dusty and quite dingy. The greens were no longer all that green and the litte white flowers were brownish grey.
Initially, I planned to take them to a florist to have them clean and liven them up with some fresh greenery and such, but the place I dropped them off at didn't tell me it would be a couple weeks before she could get to them. Once I learned that via a phone call, I picked them up and called another florist. He explained exactly how they would do it and gave me the confidence I needed to just do it myself. Then I visited You Tube University to ensure I didn't screw them up. Glad it worked out this way, to be honest. Silver lining, meet cloud.
The roses survived the cleaning stage....yay! I bought new greenery and little white flowers to use to spruce it up even more, and have been busy cutting, sizing, wrapping with floral wire, then floral tape, and getting them back into shape so I can arrange them in the same vase and make her day in a really special way. So far I only have 3 rose stems completed and 1 greenery stem completely done....but that's 4 more than I had done before I started tonight, and now I know for sure I can do it....so look out tomorrow. :)
