I am due to start therapy with a Trauma Therapist in the new year and she has told me that doing EMDR would be a good option for me. Anyone done this who can tell me what happens in the sessions & what you experience? It took me 10 sessions to start to trust my support worker and we only have 1 session left before I move onto the Trauma Therapist. I'm sad because I have started to open up to her but now it's like starting from scratch and personally I don't want a new person to try to trust and bear my soul to. I'm also worried because the thought of anything which is affecting the way my brain works scares me. I feel vulnerable about the thought of it and as control is so important to ME I need to know everything about this to make an informed decision. I'd be grateful to anyone who can give me their experiences

When first Diagnosed I had Very effective EMDR for 8 sessions, then Boom! ! really, really bad flashback and that was threaded at the time.

EMDR is effective IMHO better for single trauma patients, unlike myself with multiple abuse history and Multiple Abusers. I literally exploded in therapy. For ME, I would never consider EMDR again, that is however not to say that it would not be an effective therapy for yourself.

Trust in yourself primarily and hoping you have a good T.

Basically EMDR employs alternating tone,s or beep to try and work through the event in session.
Sessions for me felt exhilarating until the bad one.

\if you trawl the vault section of the forum I am sure there are articles in there on EMDR .
