Welcome, I'm also new but I joined as a safety net rather then an initial support for ptsd. Reaching out to people who would understand the symptoms of ptsd was so helpful to me years ago, that I decided to join this site just for that rock for me to lean on.
I too found writing what I was experiencing was a way to release all the things that were so overwhelming to keep inside. I got notebooks that I would just write whatever wanted to spill out but I also had a safe site to post some of these things too and people who I knew would be helpful to me understanding what I was experiencing emotionally as well as the effect that it had had on me.
I think ptsd is something that you just can't understand it, really, till you have experienced it. So this site is definitely a good place to be understood.
