You Know You Have PTSD When...

When you can't tell the difference between what's real and what your hypervigilance is telling you.

One of the main reasons I got a puppy and started training it to be my service dog. If the dog doesn't alert on something, I am fairly confident it's just my mind playing tricks on me.

When someone likes a post you made just a few mins ago and you have to look at the post again to see what you said.

And then tells you when it's okay to open your eyes again..

When you depend on your meds to get through the day, go to your bedroom to take them, find yourself sitting on your bed a few minutes later and can't remember whether you've taken them or not.

When you then start thinking and can't figure out what would be worse: an overdose or a panick attack.

I get a phone call in the mornings from a friend who reminds me to take my meds. Then I set an alarm for my lunch meds on my cellphone and bedtime I go to bed immediately after taking them so I don't have to worry if I did or not. (Though last night I cheated and stayed up a bit later, I just felt like an ornery little kid who didn't want to go to bed yet, so I humored myself a bit...).

Aaand then I forgot I wanted to write that I probably took them, 'cause I haven't had an anxiety attack yet. Yay.

When something happened so quick, you're still trying to think what happened...

When you type in the right password into the wrong laptop...

when you put the wrong key in the front door building...( again and again and not realize it until later)

When you can't stop thinking of how PTSD affects you...

When you always think someone is looking at you through your first floor window, so much so that you have a lace curtain over it always, but still, you think there is some way they stare into the window at you. But no one is ever visible there.

When you write "wan't" (was meant as "want") and "I'm feel like" in the same sentence, and then become really frustrated, sad and amused by it.

When getting both an alert and an inbox message at the same time is just too much. :rolleyes:
