You know you have PTSD...when you are sitting on the porch and realize how long it has been since you sat without a large guard dog or a weapon within reach. Today...I sat outside like a "normie". :tup: Love it.

When you are afraid to go outside in the dark, even just to see some fireworks. Oh well, they looked great out my window and that just had to be good enough.

When one of your biggest fears is returning to your hometown you left so long ago. Afraid of how you will react, and what it will do to you emotionally. Afraid of a major breakdown.

@Ocean5, beyond major sympathies - it will be the same town, but it will be also completely different town than the one you've grown up in. Passage of time & changes of both the town and people. So you can always play the 'spot what's different', even if focusing is just too hard.

Thank you. Appreciate your support! Normally I would agree. But this is a very very "remote isolated town" in middle of wilderness (swamps.) There wasn't a road out until my mom was 17 - only by boat.

From talking to relatives only changes are major increased drug use, and crime. People moving away to give their kids a better life. Been told besides increase drugs/crime town is stuck in time.... told I'm very lucky I escaped.

Yeah, darn, unless one happens to love ghost towns, smiting down crime, or is a writer, there really isn't all so much about them that's for something... in that case, time. You can do a count down until you're out of there, maybe.
