You Know You Have PTSD When...

door-jam.... in a friendly house-hold.

Seriously relate. Door jam better than deadbolt since it can't be unlocked from outside. Last apartment door jam didn't work with floor type...so I'd put a chair with a box of cans against door (made no sense - secure building.) If it was opened during night knew it would wake me up when it fell.... No rational reason for this expect youth, but when is PTSD rational?

Yet I can be in a new developing country, within hours I am exploring off the beaten path places without fear. But at night to sleep (or try to)....I need to feel very secure. Seems to have gotten worse older I get.

- When you have spent way too much time researching products to make your apartment secure like door security bars.

- ... when 'screw 'home' security' is a thing & you're instead busy having scheduled with whom you're camping, for how long, and where, and where to go from there

- when ... nevermind, home is where I put on tax forms it is & the rest vaya con Dios, we're not thinking about that

- your workable definitions of 'home' are all transitory & mostly people

- When you feel safer living outside your own country (when most would feel more afraid).
- Just the thought of being anywhere near where you grew up causes major ptsd symptoms.
- You go from daily buzz cut every morning - to weekly, and having to wear hat. (ok that's more depression I guess)
