Hi,

I was on Citalopram. I'm off it now for other reasons. But, while I was on it, I found that I had a hard time watching out for over-heating. When I did vigorous exercise, I wasn't sweating as much as I did when I wasn't on it. I was also having a time with water retention.

Now, my Shrink has suggested Zoloft. Besides, the usualy black box warnings, has anyone had any experience with over-heating?

Thanks

I have taken Zoloft a few times and I have never had any issues with sweating. Sweating is a common adverse effect of SSRI's. Both Zoloft and Celexa are SSRI's. Everyone experiences adverse effects differently with each drug, so even though they are the same classification it might be worth a try. Water retention, usually referred to as edema, is not a common side effect of SSRI's so I would think that would be a paradoxical effect or possibly r/t another drug therapy.

I've been on Zoloft, or rather Sertraline, the generic brand, for a couple years now and on the few occasions where my doctor and I decided to increase the dose I did experience some night sweating, that was about it. Overall the only time I experienced any side effects was when I adjusted the dose, other than that they were delightfully non existent.

I've been on Zoloft for almost a year and I'm an avid runner and it's really hot where I live. I've had no problem and I tend to run for an hour/hour and a half at a time.
