This may be a long post so sorry in advance.

I'm 21 years old I suffer with BPD my mum suffers with ptsd. I am really at a lost end at what to do with my mum she's clearly not coping in life at the moment but she just doesn't want any help. I am also struggling with my own mental health issues as stated above and all I want is my mum to be there for me but she just doesn't seem to care about me anymore. It all began because my dad tried to commit suicide back in 2012 for the first 2-3 years after she was fine but in the last year she has started really going down hill. I feel she uses her ptsd as a means of being an ass sometimes and I just feel like I should cut her out of my life completely, I am her only child so its not like she has anyone else relying on her and I know I'm now an adult but everyone needs their mum sometimes and I feel like I've lost her. She doesn't seem to care that I've been diagnosed by the mental health team with BPD ( she hasn't even been officially diagnosed) I tried to commit suicide back in march this year she proceeded to take time off of work to 'look after me' but I never even saw her! She would say to her work that she was with me 24/7 which was a lie just so she could have time off of work. She will now also help people who aren't even family like her neighbours but couldn't give a crap about me or her own mother who is very sick. Is this her ptsd or is this just her being an asshole because I'm fed up of her saying " its because I have ptsd" as an excuse for everything. Sorry if I seem like I'm ranting but I'm upset and confused.

I'm sorry you don't have the support it sounds like you need from your mom. Welcome to this site, I hope you can find some support here

Hi and welcome,
Could you see if you and your mother could have some joint therapy together? It might help to clarify what is going on.

Is there anything in the past that your mum has an issue with in terms of your behaviour? Just checking as sometimes family issues are complex and multidimensional. Your mum shouldn't be self diagnosing and if she does have PTSD then she needs professional help.

It really does sound like you both need professional help as both of you are in a place where you need help and may not be able to be there for each other in the way you need. I'ts horrible for you that you don't have a mum to help you through this.
