Does anyone else suffer from nightsweats?
i nevever used to have a problem with sweating at night EVER until i had PTSD now i sweat like anything, is this normal, does anyone else suffer from this? i have to use fbreeze on my blankets and no odor in my room to stop to smell of sweat, its so bad,, usually is worse when it coinsides with my not remembering a dream.

Hi Missys Girl.

Well although I haven't had them in some time
I know what your going through.
I would wake up sweaty and thinking WTF is this about.
After some time the dreams and the sweats subsided and now I
very rarely have them.
So I guess what I'm trying to say is your not alone and it's just sweat
nothing more, so hang in there, better days to come.

See Ya around.

Yeah, sweats are normal. Its a response to the hyper vigilance and all that good noise. I hate ptsd. They really ought to come up with a vaccine or somthing. I would rather have the worlds worst case of herppies than PTSD. Anyone feel me on that one?

For almost 40 years I thought I just had too many covers on for the weather. I would wake up drenched two or three times a week and never remember any dreams. Finally, last fall I was being interviewed by a Veterans Administration therapist and he asked if I had night sweats. I said, "What's that?" The only difference is that now I know what they are. Something is happening while we're sleeping, but damned if I know what it is. It's annoying trying to get back to sleep in a wet bed and ruining pillows all the time, and I'd rather not have them, but other than that they don't seem to do much harm to me.

Hi missys girl, welcome :hello:

Yep, I sure do know what you're talking about- drenching.

About 2 1/2 years ago I called this "Health Line" about it and all they could say was "Menopause"? - which I was about 17-ish years too young for.
In light of ptsd it makes sense now, -know there's a thread about it, somewhere.

-Remember getting them around 22, too. -Seemed to coincide with insomnia.
I never remember dreaming anything, so no hope there.
I can only say that I believe calming your mind and heart will help, like fire said.

If it happens I have a bath in the morning but they are really draining.

They can be a sign of an infection, TB or even Hodgkin's, so I guess it's good to check it out, too.

Good luck to you and SWEET, peaceful dreams!

And come to think of it, it coincided with starting smoking again (I had quit for about 3 years).

So I've had them again, on and off, for about 2 3/4 years and I'm still here.
-Never know what night they're gonna "hit" except to say likely when I am really stressed out or feel sick.

I think and believe that the more you begin to learn to manage the PTSD the better your sleep will become.

Like fire said, I have also found that I do not sweat at night now..and Junebug; I got the same thing put to me when I asked about it...menopause..yeah NO on that one here also Meg.

If you can air out your blankets it might help better, the fabreeze will build up and may also contribute to you sweating, it may react with the heat and continuously adding a chemical to what you are sleeping in may well affect your breathing perhaps and that will disturb your sleep also.

I hope this helps some

YES...lol:rofl:

Oh yes. Heh. I know somebody else who was also suffering from lots of night sweats (we were working in a very violent place) and she thought she had constant night fevers. Heh heh. It's funny looking back on it, but it wasn't then. My night sweats have decreased with therapy and drugs and all that.

well, at least i know im "normal" for lack of a better word, ive had the night sweats for 3 years now, they have improved SO much though, i used to wake up during the night and have to change my clothes because i was totally drenched, but i had bad nightmares at that stage too, i still get the nightmares, but i no longer attack things in my sleep and kick the walls sreaming so loudly i can be heard from the other end of the house and sometimes even heard from the shed uup the backyard, so that part has improved a lot...just wish i knew how long the nightsweats were going to last for...what causes it?..... why do we do it?
ill start airing my blanket when the weather is nicer, though i dont know how much nice weather we will have, were heading into winter soon.
