Hello,

"Where are you? What unit(s) have you served with? Where did you deploy and when.......how long and with whom? And last but not at all the least, have you been diagnosed with PTSD?"
Active Duty US Army stationed on Oahu, Hawaii. I have worked with over a dozen units, but I was with 101st BSB, 1st INF, and then 701st BSB, 1st INF. I deployed with the latter for 9 months in AFG.

I got back 2 years ago February, and my wife finally won the argument for me to go get help. I registered on their little PTSD thingy as a 73/83. They want me to do a month-long intensive outpatient program. SO I guess you could say it is a little intense. I am not violent, when I am awake. I get the most fantastic night terrors, though.

Welcome to the forum brother. Lots of people here from all over. From Nam to current. I served with the 101st, 2-187 Rakkasans, 2ID, and 3-47. 11b. Desert shield/storm. Good to have you here. Been dealing with the beast since 91. Check out the media section and the posts. Welcome home Brother. You're among friendlies.

Welcome Crim, take a knee brother.

Lots to read here - not to worry your not alone here with the night terrors the beast knows when it has an edge.

Aloha! I spent a ton of time on Oahu after I got out so here are some points of interest because the beast stays caged if you stay entertained.

Bellows Beach: Chillest spot on the whole damn island. Good windsurfing.

Stairway to Heaven: They tell you not to but f*ck that, it's beautiful and the state shouldn't have closed it anyway.

Dole Pineapple Plantation: The maze is pretty fun even though it's meant for kids. The treasure hunt in the maze is lame though.

Malaikahana: It's a mountain behind a shady AF installation and it offers million dollar views and camping if you don't mind having no head accomodations, no real campsite, and dealing with freaky ghost activity. Go with a truck because we pretty much went offroading there in a 91 Camaro (we had no idea the "road" was like that until I got there!) It's the site of the infamous "mountaintop story" which has become somewhat of a legend in my circle of friends. (Pictures of Malaikahana included as well as a picture of the horrible, leaky MWR rental tent.)

Welcome to the forum,

Are you asking those questions? If so, take a look at our flags, that is where we are from. As for PTSD, everyone on this forum has PTSD, and if they don't, then they will be kicked off.

If you want to know more about me, pm me.

Gentlemen,

After I messed around last night I did not expect such a warm reply! I was worried this place had faded as many do. I am so glad to have a team on my side.

I will reply from the recent to the top, so bear with me.

Jimmy: I hope things are going well, I read you might be having a tough time. I too, am very glad M is there for you. I love your profile picture. It looks like how my mind feels 24/7. In regards to the original post, when I have an intro assignment I repost the questions so as not to forget any. I was merely quoting. I understand that the flags indicate location. Yours is the land down under, if I am not mistaken.

Raven: I have hit 3 of 4 of your sites. I will have to do that madly named mountain eventually. The pictures look amazing. Currently though, I am pulling double shifts and can't find two minutes to rub together. I will take some of my grossly large amount of leave to check it out. My wife won't appreciate a dugout latrine but she can deal if it helps.

Ba: An old 'Nam vet helped me ease into the military, and it seems like you guys are serious when it comes to comrades. I am really blessed to have you, and the night terrors know EXACTLY when they got an edge, and they press it. That's the reason I am here, really. Wife pushed me to deal.

attilla: I see those sections you mentioned, and I have seen how avid a supporter you are on these boards. I appreciate your commitment and will follow your advice. I am sorry you had to see the gulf war. I do have a funny thing for you: In terms of US Census, the Iraq/AFG war is categorized as "Gulf War, Era 2"

Few old nam vets eased my way in, too. Lol. Warrant Officers with a twinkle In their eye you know spells trouble. Good memories.

Welcome aboard, Crim. Dive on in.

Don't make the same mistake we did by grabbing Thai food from a truck for dinner before going up the mountain to set up camp... Remember what I said about there being no head accomodations?

It was supposed to be a romantic camping trip in a secluded, scenic spot!

I guess it was a bonding experience because I'm married to the shit machine now but this happened in the very beginning of our relationship when we still barely knew each other and we were trying to impress one another.

If it happened now then it would be no big deal because we're at the point where we don't give a f*ck about that stuff but it was really mortifying at the time even though we were both hit by volcano butt and he had it for a lot longer.

Thank you very much Friday. He did so love to talk about what he couldn't talk about when I got back. My poor Dad had no idea what was going on.

I don't eat much Thai anyways Raven, but solid advice the same. I am mostly past the point with my wife but I wouldn't want to breach that line with her.

Welcome, I deployed to OIF form O'ahu and lived in Hawai'i for 7 years. Many ohana still there

I can understand that. The few good ones you meet here tend to stick.

Thank you all for your service - I am reading and soakin in as much as possible. It is a little much to swallow.
The beast though, I have learned, is angry to receive this attention. I am under the impression that I get more and more aggressive the more I realize that some shit is wacked out in my head. The way I interpret events has completely shifted. What a bitch.
