...without McCain's vote, the bill would have passed!
Without the no vote of both those women, the the bill would have passed, even if McCain voted no. It took 3 no votes from the republicans to stop the bill. Not just 1. All three no votes had equal value in stopping the bill. That's what many people are missing in the media --- on both the right and the left --- and the republicans tend to downplay the power and value of women even more often. They fail to include women and fail to give them the credit they deserve quite regularly. But women still rise and have great courage, and I'm glad for these two female senators for standing up for what they believed in. Kudos to them.

Yes, I do agree that women are overlooked and sometimes looked down upon in our government. And I do applaud them for making a stand and saying NO.... I also watched Gramham, McCain and 2 other senators on camera yesterday stating that they will stand firm in saying NO to the vote unless they were given POSITIVE assurances that if the vote went through that it would go into conference so that a discussion would happen. They were NOT given that assurance and yet they WHIMPED out and voted YES, and McCain stood firm and voted NO!!!!

I give McCain and Collins and Murkowski all credit for saying they wouldn't vote for the bill and they didn't cave in.

@hodge , my representative is the same as yours. He has a huge district. And, he's a kind of middle of the road kind of guy. I think he can handle bipartisanship better than most. (I heard Senator Klobachar interviewed this afternoon. I guess John McCain told her how he was going to vote ahead of the vote. :))

We have...

Acting FBI Director due to POTUS decision to fire the previous one.
Acting Homeland Security Secretary due to POTUS decision to fire his Chief of Staff.
The Attorney General is being threatened to be fired by POTUS.
The new Communications Director going after the Chief Strategist.
Defense Secretary James Mattis was on vacation this week when the trans policy was announced.
Tillerson was also on vacation, and reportedly pondering his future, with a State Department that is understaffed.
Previous NSA chief was fired, and the current one, McMaster, has reported tensions with POTUS.

And... a congress can't get ANYTHING done.

There's no way McMaster wasn't going to run afoul of POTUS. I doubt Trump knew who he was picking, when he picked him. It's interesting that the new chief of staff is also a general. Normally, I'd prefer a civilian government. Right now, I'm just glad to have a couple grown ups in the room.
