Also, remember there are heavily armed, well trained security present if shooting starts. It is no longer a soft target

This is part of why the private schools with many of these measures cost 40k per year and up, though! Yowch. I drool with envy driving by them. No lie. The sheer oomph they put into educating and training and safeguarding kids? Dayum. I wish. I could only wish my kids could have that, ya know?

I understand what you are saying, no one in their right mind wants to see another child loose their life or be injured, but I am also going to trust the teachers who have a better understanding of school environments and educational psychology on what the best methods to protect the children are. The point of schools is to educate children. Fear inhibits a child's ability to learn, so there has to be a better solution so that children aren't afraid of being hurt, but at the same time not be afraid because their school now resembles a prison environment.

My husband went over all the ways a school shooter could maximize casualties with me. Apparently open air campuses with modular buildings are safer especially ones that prevent students being crowded in hallways are much safer.

Apparently from what I hear, anyone can go to a gun show and buy an assault riffle. Why!? I think the first step is to limit assault rifles to military.

@Fadeaway, do you want our children to "feel" safe or "be" safe? In these times I...
I also think if children are safe, they will feel safe. Make sense?

AGREED! We have a bunch of dead children to prove that they don't know enough about security. Teaching and security, two different skill sets. ;)

@LuckiLee I would appreciate it if you wouldn't make assumptions about my husband and I am sure @ShikibuZ feels the same about assumptions you just made about her. Do I trust that my husband knows more about schools than you do, absolutely. If you want to address the issue of bullying go talk to the school boards and administration about changing the policies on what a teacher can and can not do.

Definitely unappreciated. And I do trust that your husband knows more about navigating school environments, as do I.

A teacher's first job is to protect the children, then teach. Obviously, they are not being protected. Being a teacher does not make one an expert in security. Please keep these different skill sets seperate. Is a fisherman an expert on building ships? Is a fireman an expert on building roads? Are artists experts with firearms? Let's keep it real. :D
