What is the strangest thing you have brought to your therapy session?

That’s a really good idea. Do you have anything in your T’s office currently you can use?
There isn’t anything there and the random objects he has me look at to try to pay attention to when I get fuzzy minded sometimes make me think of bad things, so I was trying to think of what I can bring to make it better, something to put on the shelves and table to look at and something to hold. Actually a shell from the beach maybe. Not sure what else. I brought my softest cashmere sweater to hold a couple weeks ago.

I am very afraid to ask if I can though.

As you can see from all of the replies- they won’t mind and honestly I wouldn’t even worry about asking if it’s something small. Unless you want to keep it in the office, then obviously ask. I think your shell and sweater are great ideas! Is there anything at home that particularly makes you feel safe?

Thank you! I am ok with bringing things I need and not leaving them there... wondering if I can ask him to put them on the shelf and table, while I am there. I can’t do it myself because I get so shaky when I arrive I can barely walk in and sit down without tripping or panicking. Therapy is pretty new and I’m very anxious. The sweater makes me feel safer and like things are maybe ok. The shell helps because I know it’s from now and not the past.
I have been thinking about what else I could bring. Not sure yet. But something distinct I know what it is and doesn’t remind me of other things or confuse me. Maybe a stuffed animal or object from a friend.

I brought my 8 week old Saint bernard puppy in so she could cuddle it :) She knows I absolutely adore my dogs and keeps asking to see pictures of him as he grows. Once he is a bit bigger I think I'll bring him to a few sessions but he has to stop being so wild like a puppy lol!
