So Vet, the kids and me have been watching Dumbo (the 2019 life action movie) with Colin Farrell. Colin Farell plays a disabled Vet (Holt Farrier) in the movie.
So Vet seemed to be pretty unmoved during the movie (but he was sad as he later told me) and I did not pay much attention. I always clean up, do the laundry and stuff like this while we watch TV.

Later when the kids where in bed Vet told me that he felt like Holt Farrier in the movie and that looking at this might help me better understand PTSD. So I asked him how that guy feels in the movie. He just said “Dunno“. I asked him how his ptsd shows. He said for example when he tells the kids not to treat Dumbo the elephant mean. (Because he wrongly believes that the kids make fun of Dumbos ears when they are delighted he can fly... which he doesn’t believe because he was not there when he jumped/flies for the first time). So I told him that I am not sure how his ptsd shows there and he said “Dunno... not sure... maybe the civvies do not see that“. So I asked him what part of the movie he liked best. It was the part where they helped Dumbo escape from the tent. I asked him why. Well it was because their plan succeeded. I asked him if he thought Hilt Farriers PTSD was showing ptsd in the scene. He was like “Dunno... hard to tell. I don’t think so“.
I asked him if there was something else he wanted to tell me. He said “Dunno... maybe I just stop talking to civvies about PTSD because they do not get it anyway... no offense meant. To me it is so clear that guy has ptsd and you do not even see it“ and then he said watching the movie made him just very sad for all the other Vets who have ptsd. I asked him “Just for the other vets?“...“Dunno. I was sad for them“...“Did you feel sad for yourself too“...“Dunno. I think I should not discuss this with civvies because they do not get it“ and then several times he said that he must stop to discuss this with civvies now and did not mean it as an offense and I said “okay“.

? Not sure how to think about it or what to do. I fear he just decided not to talk to me in future when he felt sad about a movie. He cannot really stop discussing ptsd with civvies because he never really started. I googled the movie and found out Holt Farrier was really meant to have ptsd but so far I found no page that gave me more info. It was just mentioned briefly. Do you know any page that gives one more info?
Has any of you or you “sufferer“ watched it? Do you agree that my guys way of communicating is actually not to communicative. He is actually a smart and well spoken guy but when you talk with him about personal stuff every second word is “Dunno“.

Have I acted wrong?

Just wanted to for those who did not read my other posts: He often identifies with fictional characters for example with Christopher Robin in Christopher Robin.

I havent seen it - but based on how I react to movies with animals? ya...it all makes perfect sense to me.

yep.

My t sent me to see the movie Crazy Rich Asians and told me to come back and tell her which character I related to the most. Nope. Nada. But I loved the movie so I've seen it several times. It took a year for it to dawn on me who she was referring to!
e said for example when he tells the kids not to treat Dumbo the elephant mean. (
yep -- don't make fun of someone about something they can't control that makes them stick out like a weirdo and they can't hide it and people laugh at them and make fun of them because they are different

yep. Guru used to tell me --- Freida the normies can never understand what you are going thru. They can sympathize, they can want to help, they can love you, but they will never get it. It's not a slam on them -- its just that there is no frame of reference. I run into the same thing with my 911 stuff -- the stuff that upsets me doesn't happen in normal human beings lives so while they want to help they don't really get it. It works the other way too -- when people are upset and I just don't understand why.

LOL yep. Because I don't know how I feel because I try so hard to not feel. So when a feeling pops up? Most of the time I don't know what to call it.
I'm getting better at identifying them, but....
