Poll Is Your Carer / Sufferer A Member Of This Forum?

I am interested in finding out how many people have the significant other person in their life as a member of this forum - whether it be simply logging on as a guest to learn/read or be a participating member i.e. if you are a Sufferer does your Carer come to this forum? If you are a Carer does your Sufferer come to this forum?

My sufferer does not come on here. He has not idea how to even switch PC on, though I have suggested on many occasion that I teach him. He could even just sit and read anything he wanted, once it is up and running, unfortunately so far no luck with that either.

But it did take me 6 weeks to teach him how to use our washer.

My H does not come on here, he doesn't know I'm a member. Don't ask me why, it is not cos I don't trust him. Maybe I don't want him to see how bad it gets. We have so much worry over the last 18 months, I want to protect him.
I feel guilty not telling him, but like being annonymous here.

My hubby knows I'm on this site from time to time but he doesn't use it for himself.
In fact in the last year he doesn't talk about his PTSD symptoms like he used to. I think he feels there's no point as it doesn't change anything and talking can make things more difficult.

My husband is a member of this forum, though he's not on 1/100th as much as I am. Whether I'm the sufferer or carer depends on the day around here, lol. I think in the end my whole family are both, often at the same time.

Still trying to talk my brother into joining here. Isolation is bad, but he's quite a master at it. *sigh*

What makes you say that MurphyJB? If you are trying to learn and help yourself how could he be angry with that?

Bingo... and as a family member, spouse, carer, etc, you must look after yourself within the equation, otherwise things like Secondary PTSD become a reality, usually unbeknownst to yourself.

It is exactly the same as PTSD, except they refer to it as secondary PTSD, as you got PTSD through literal abuse from a person with PTSD. It is, in effective, PTSD from living with someone with PTSD.

Some people with PTSD can be extremely traumatic to live with.
