:roflmao: Lmao.

Re: their gender, what you're talking about is basically venting. You squeeze so that it poos and its cloaca will open and you can see if it has a bump or not. If it does, it's a dude. Pretty much no normal people do that though as it's almost impossible to f**king tell and you'd basically just be squeezing shit out of your chicken for no discernible reason lol. Which means that there are professional chicken shit squeezers out there. :D Most people either hire a chick sexer or wait until their secondary characteristics kick in which is like a month to two months.

Thank you so much. I looked it up on the internet and there was no eHow on telling the sex of chicken. I look up eHow for everything from cooking an egg to getting out of a used car sale. Thank you! Thank you! I can tell a roo way in the first week usually. They are so feisty and they sometimes make a different sound. I think we have a boy and girl but we have more coming. I am making chicken diapers. Yes, they sell them but they are too big for my chicks so I'm making my own in pink and baby blue. :sneaky:

The only place I could have chickens would be at the fish camp... and a neighbor tried it. He ended up drawing in cougar, wild dogs, fox... and other predators.. and had to close up. Me? I want goats, and I want them all to be named Billy. Billy Rae, Billy Sue, Billy Bob... Billy Jean... you get the drift. I don't have enough property out there to have more than 4 briar goats.

So very cute, Gloria!!! I am glad you have your new little babies!!:)

Hundreds of dollars later, reading books on embyology and the history of poultry and managements for hours, and many dead eggs, I finally bought adult Seramas. Yes, I drove three hours down to a very dangerous neighborhood in Chicago and bought these chickens from the filthiest house that I have ever seen. The pictures weren't taken in this guy's garage but his house! OMG! People really do live in places like this with chickens and large dogs pooping everywhere!! Duct tape used as tile on the floor???

Oh well, he gave me an old female for $20 and I like her better than the younger two. What tiny little adorable and sweet little birds! I named my favorite Claudette Colbert and since I'm an old movie buff, all my birds will be named after old movie stars. If I get a real bitch bird, I will name her Joan Crawford. My eggs still aren't hatching but I've gotten smart. I got a professional candler to see the inside and it's not my mistakes alone. I am getting eggs that aren't hatchable and aren't even fertilized and getting ripped off. However, I will now be able to have fertile eggs and my little Claudette is going to incubate them for me. They only weigh 10 oz..

Gloria, they are adorable...I want one!!

I know. I know. These little miniature chickens are very friendly unlike cockatiels or parakeets that are wild birds. They got scared of my cat and jumped in my lap. They are only six inches tall and tiny. You can buy diapers for them and keep them in apartments. They are really a hot item in the U.S. but apparently they have already become a craze in the U.K. If I was in an apartment, I would want a cat or dog if I could had a cute little chicken that liked to cuddle, ate almost nothing and was much easier to clean up after. They don't squak or make a lot of noise like other birds and very tame. I am breeding them and will be giving away the ones that won't be used for show. So if you want one, I can give you one in the spring. Chickens are totally cool. Not the dumb ones that have been bred for meat but these have been bred for 100's of years strictly as pets in Thailand and Malaysia.

I'd love one Gloria but the poor thing would have to be flown over and kept in quarantine Maybe I can get some from the UK.

They are very big in the UK, do a google. I never thought I would fall in love with chickens??? But little tiny chickens are adorable and if you get a hen, you give her a little tiny miniature nest and she lays tiny little eggs the size of a robin. Oh!! It's so cute!! The first time a hen lays an egg, she will strut around and think that she just invented the wheel - so proud of herself. When she lays it, she makes sounds like she is in labor because she is not used to laying eggs. They crack me up!!

How long do they live Gloria? I have a budgie and the first egg she laid she was egg bound, she nearly died but the Vet got it out and she laid the rest no problem. She's about 7 now and has only had one season where she laid eggs - thankfully!
