The Roadhog Burger

Oh IHS you do make me laugh! :roflmao:

That burger is just gross!

who do you think is to blame, the provider or the eater???

Well Saffy, I think it is a supply v demand thing. Their are healthier options for people to choose from in any country they just need the education. I don't mind an unhealthy meal occasionally but for some people the unhealthy stuff has become the norm. If we close down all the fast food joints would people jsut eat junk at home?

Education, education, education. People need to know how to eat healthily then they have to 'choose' to eat healthily.

A few of our supermarkets have just been caught selling cheep beef burgers containing horse! It has been going on for a good while so I have probably ate it. That isn't the problem though. The problem is that they didn't declare it and eating horse in the UK isn't allowed.

Hi CraftyCath

Yes, I am from the UK too and was disgusted to hear this but only because I am a horse lover and the conditions they end up in for slaughter is abusive to say the least.

A lot of racehorses end up there and horses are still bred for slaughter in Wales too :( (not a lot of people know that) When they are ready they are transported abroad in disgusting conditions to be slaughtered and then some of the meat is shipped back. Our slaughter houses have declined due to government restrictions. It is a sad state of affairs really.

I agree with supply and demand but the advertising does not help either, especially if they think athletes are feasting on this crap. Mcshite (aka Mcdonalds) even sponsored the 2012 games for god sake.

Yes education is a must, but it is also the sign of the times, people think they have less time to cook and go for fast food. They are also under the misconception that it cost more to cook from fresh too. Our pallets have changed also I think. Gone are the hunter gatherer days of old ;)

best wishes
Saffy :)

I didn't know that about the horses Saffy, how terrible! I live in a village with at least 3 stables and a stud and just love to see the horses out and about. I am sorry this is happening to horses in this country.

I HATE McDonalds and had forgot the sponsored the games. I remember one of my lads commenting on it at the time - it should not have been allowed.

I prefer home made burgers as I know what goes into them and they work our cheaper as they are so much more filling. I avoid processed food.

I wonder how many people looked at that massive burger and went 'yum!' because it made me feel . I hate feeling too full and the thought of all that fat lining my arteries is frightening.

Ditto CraftyCath. Homemade food is so much tastier too and you can add anything you like. I put shredded carrot, onion and sweet peppers in with mine :)

Ignorance is bliss, sometimes. This might trigger some animal lovers, just a warning before you read it. :)

Yes it is sad about the horses. Racehorse breeding is one of the worst. They breed loads and only a few ever make the grade the rest are sent to bloodstock sales where you can buy them for as little as £500.

Some are lucky and are bought and retrained for riding, eventing and show jumping, but there are so many most end up being bought by the slaughter man. The French love all that horse muscle ;) They will not take ready slaughtered meat so the horses are transported in terrible conditions to EU countries for slaughter for the French market. Polish slaughter houses are terrible conditions.

The good breeding mares have the youngsters taken away and then they are bred again. The youngsters are being fed by surrogate cob mothers. When the mares are no good they are sent off too or used to produces HRT for menopause (which uses pregnant mares urine unless you get or ask for the synthetic stuff).

Sometime ignorance is bliss. I wish I did not know a lot of things about the use of animals for sport and medicine.

Humans are the most destructive animal on this planet. :)

best wishes
Saffy :)

This burger is really a promotional / silly Australian type thing, to get people from the cities, in groups, out to a remote country area to spend their $$$. As I said, groups of famous footballers and all types of teams have gone out there to share one, get photo's and then return to the city.

Very smart promotion IMHO... to help get cash into the country areas.

It is unrealistic to think youth are going to eat healthy all the time, especially when active youth have a metabolism that would digest the above, and worse (McDonalds , Burger King, etc), without a hiccup. I think if you had a bunch of middle aged people going to eat that... it would be weight on... but kids having a good time sharing a disgusting massive burger and having photo's, some beers and such... AWESOME!
