You Know You Have PTSD When...

When your boss tells you that every time he sees the first aid kit he thinks of you, because you're so clumsy.
When your immediate reaction to a dropped pot or pan is to duck for cover.
When you make a list, go to the store and STILL forget to pick something up.
When you see people talking and laughing and you automatically think they're laughing at you.
When you're crying at night and think, "Oh, it's been a whole week since I cried myself to sleep!" as though it's an accomplishment.
When you constantly tell people that you're okay while you hyperventilate.

This is pretty fun. It feels good to laugh at myself a little.

What a fantastic thread!

When you have detailed exit strategy plans for every room you enter. Additionally, they include provisions for as many variations/complications as you can think of! Preparedness. :)

When the person driving behind you mimics your lane changes/turns and you panic because you are convinced s/he is following you.

Yes! I've totally been there :hilarious:!

When someone puts Dr. Phil on and you can't watch it without having to put your fingers in your ears and eventually leave the room because detailed accounts of abuse are being discussed and you can feel your anxiety starting.

You thought the money given to you was for personal use( it was for mom).

You are overwhelmed.

Your mind feels completely paranoid and you think someone is playing with your mind, meanwhile reminding yourself you are not.

You continuously keep dissociating

When calling someone and you get their phone machine or voicemail, you think they are purposefully avoiding you and are listening at that moment to the message you leave.

Or:

When leaving the message or while listening to their message before you get a chance to leave yours, you get disconnected and think they picked up the phone and put it down silently again, so you would not hear them hanging up on you.

I do things like this CONSTANTLY and it drives me NUTS. I WISH I could stop. I make myself so upset doing it.

When you read into almost everything almost everyone does to be on alert so you can brace yourself for the exact moment "it" starts again. IF "it" starts again. Even though you have pretty much no real reason to think "it" will. And you make yourself so upset your anxiety is a 14 on a scale of 1-10.
