Sufferer Diagnosed But Not Sure Myself.

Actually, an embarrassment can be very humiliating. And illness can cause it. Two therapists and the psychiatrist who specialize in PTSD have told me this. I didn't make it up. PTSD comes from high stress situation. That can be caused by any number of things. Three psychiatrist and five therapists have told me I have PTSD through own their individual assessments. I have not been in a war or sexually abused--though I was given a date rape drug at one point, its not the initial cause of my PTSD, only exacerbated it. I'm sure different Dr. and T will have different opinions but these are specialists who have actually helped me so I respect their opinions.

I meant these as two exclusive statements, not that embarrassment can cause illness. Geez, I really should proof myself more carefully.

Hi there. I've been gone awhile. I just wanted to clarify that embarrassment wasn't do much an issue in childhood, it was more berating and shaming. I've also only realized recently how much my self esteem has been damaged by the chronic illness that was brought on my Neuro West Nile Virus-the chronic pain, fatigue and difficuly thinking. I knew my self esteem had been damaged by important people in my life. It was interesting to observe how badly it was damaged by illness. Anyway...today is a tough day. I kind of feel like hiding in a dark closet and rocking back and forth. It'll pass though.
