Have you thought about natural and/or esoteric happy alternatives? Happy food (bananas, for one, are said to be a mood booster, among others). Happy smells (nothing beats pure incense from India), light (candles in a bunch of colors!), natural supplements (st johnsworth, among others). Energetic stones.
I am not saying that these are a magic pill (they're not), and you will probably maybe still feel crappy, but they can help a bit, and all bits are important.
