I can't even comment on this without saying very inappropriate things but it speaks for itself:
http://www.nbcnews.com/id/22394933/...urts/t/police-academy-says-go-out-cause-ptsd/

I really better not say anything more

Black said the class president was ex-military, and that the slogan "slipped in." He declined to identify the graduate. Black said future slogans would be vetted by academy leaders

I honestly don't know how an "ex-military man" could go and create this.

The cops are certainly not our friends, or our protectors.

Unfortunately even the worst institutions contain a few good individuals, who help perpetuate the fiction of public service (Mayer's "They thought they were free" contains examples of those individuals and the fiction they lent credibility to, during the National Socialist German Workers Party regime).

The fact that cops are described as "law enforcement" implies something very interesting.

If the laws which the cops are employed (with money taken by coercion) were in the interest of ordinary people, those people would have an incentive to participate themselves, and to fund them voluntarily.

That funding is coercive, and participation is enforced, clearly implies that the laws are not for ordinary people's benefit.

The Ferguson riots last year clearly demonstrated that local communities can and do quickly come to the aid of their members. The huff post had pictures and video of locals forming a human barricade to protect local businesses from would be looters, and although armed, they used reasoning and appeals to decency ("you're better than that, you're not a thief ") to dissuade them from looting.

Where were the cops? They were stranding back, they were threatening, beating up and lobbing cs gas at journalists over a mile from the protests (see the vids of all Jazeera Crews being threatened and gassed), and were lobbing cs canisters into domestic back yards

In any other field, monopoly is recognised as bad for consumers, it results (all else being equal) in fewer, lower quality and higher price goods and services than competing providers would.

Policing is not a " special good" that can only be provided coercively, the locals protecting businesses in Ferguson demonstrated that, residents patrols, private detectives, private store and mall security all demonstrate that.

What then is the purpose of coercively funded monopoly cops, who do sweet f all to protect persons or property, and who smear any would be competition as "vigilante" or "taking the law into your own hands"?

Ferguson again shows us

They mulct the poorest, weakest and least politically organised for revenue, and feed that revenue to the most predatory and best politically connected in society.

They are the thug's, the heavies, the street level muscle for politically privileged parasites and their favoured cronies.

The" go out and cause PTSD" is exactly what they are about.

That's pretty classic military, actually. Take a f*cked up situation and turn it on its head.

The whole quote is "Don't suffer from PTSD, go out and cause it."

Aka, don't be a victim.

The implication there is pretty clear... A f*ckload of cops have PTSD... & where does that come from? Gangbangers trying to kill them, beaten children screaming and sobbing in their arms time & again because the courts keep giving them back to their parents, murder scenes, being shot through the door at a traffic stop or your best friend being done to and him bleeding out in your arms, clearing booby trapped meth labs... The worst of the worst of the worst of trauma = PTSD.

You don't get PTSD from going to elementary schools, or helping the homeless guy get a sandwich, or getting the teen girls gas vouchers, or any of the thousands of things cops do year in and out helping people. You get it from all the people trying to kill cops on a daily basis, never knowing if the 14yo girl who is crying against a wall leaping at you is going to hug you or stab you, and dealing day in and out with the victims of crimes on the worst day of their lives.

Is it accurate? Hell no. No one gets to choose not to have PTSD by being the biggest baddest dog in gangland.

Is it politically correct? f*ck no. Because people won't take it to mean not being a victim to all the wifebeaters, baby rapers, cop killers, and f*cking terrible people out there who are the ones who you want to be a damn threat to...people are going to picture granny with the cat in the tree & Joe Average. So instead of seeing cops as threats to criminals = a good thing? They're gonna take it as cops being threats to citizens minding their own business going about their lives = how *dare* they paint themselves as a threat?!?!

Which means it's stupid to have gotten leaked.

Having lived in neighborhoods where the police were too damn pansy to even roll through, where the gangs ran the streets & everyone knew it? I can appreciate a little "And yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil, for I am the baddest motherf*cker in the whole damn valley." ethos.

Wish they had a better writer, though. Don't be a victim crap is pretty weak.

Maybe only 10% of military moto would apply... But if they were that desperate they coulda just borrowed something. Hell. Second time I've used it tonight; No better friend, No worse enemy.

Everyone's a damn photographer now... something "slips in" for a moment, there is a photo, a tweet, and the www does its thing, disseminating it to the world that quickly. The disgust flows onwards.

I do get the joke about making such a slogan... we used to pull the piss out of everything serious. You had to laugh about it, or else you would cry and worry about it.

Re the meth labs,

If the cops weren't criminalising consensual activities

Then the effects which were so clearly visible during alcohol prohibition, wouldn't be being repeated today.

When alcohol was prohibited, beer wine and high quality, low strength drink disappeared. What replaced them was gut rot whisky and gin, high strength, very poor quality.

Bootlegging favoured a certain type of entrepreneur, one who was willing and able to provide their own security, to bribe cops to look the other way when his stuff was going through, but to sic cops on his competitors. See also the metropolitan police porn squad scandal for another instance of this effect.

It favoured a certain kind of politician, willing to use his bootlegger friends muscle, as well as to live in the bootleggers pockets.

Bootleggers and baptists found an alliance, one in using state sector violence to enforce their pious busybodying onto society,
The other in using state sector violence to keep competitors out of the market and to maintain his monopoly profits for otherwise unmarketably substandard goods.
Both supported prohibition.

What of today

There are billions a year spent on employing cops to use violence against victimless consensual activities between adults.

Is that to the benefit of society?

Hardly,

Gary Webb, of the San Jose mercury news, uncovered the history of the cocaine epidemic in California, his story was later verified by congressional enquiry, but not before Webb was suicides, with two bullet holes in his skull.
Nicaraguan contras had been given free pass and protection to import coke and sell it into California by the Reagan regime.

Sparky McLaughlin, similarly stumbled on an officially protected drugs for political funds programme, in favour of the Dominican revolutionary party, on the eastern seaboard.

Same scams, same problems as alcohol prohibition.

And the cops providing the violence to keep it all going, and to keep ordinary businesses, with shop fronts, and high quality low price branded goods, from out competing and forcing favoured gangsters out of the market.

Individual cops may not have started the cycle that results in boobytrapped meth labs, trigger happy street gangs, or pimps taking out contracts. But their participation in keeping normal businesses from providing services, perpetuates and fuels the cycle of violence and decay.
