Going off all of my meds

...symptoms and any other research that you might think of. This way when something like brain zaps start, you know what it is and called. One of the things I found out is Effexor is a SNRI. While Paxil for instance is a SSRI. You might want to look that up too. SNRI vs. SSRI Hugs, Alice

Medical Was i assaulted?? vaginal medical procedure as child.

No it's not. Zoloft is an SSRI anti-depressant. Clonodine is a blood pressure meds that helps some with nightmares as is Prazosin. You may want to research meds you take as it is super important to know what these meds are and what they are used for off label, any interactions, etc.

I don’t know how to connect or ask for help right now

It sounds in a way like a manic reaction. I had this reaction to an SSRI and I felt extremely calm, yet extremely disassociated and so under the calm and lack of affect, I felt terror and confusion. If the meds are out of your body you should feel better soon. Can you look up the meds you think...

Are suicidal thoughts always from the inner critic?

...and suicidal thoughts. I think depression can be caused by life circumstances, feeling hopeless to make things better. One time I was suicidal due to a bad reaction to ssri drugs. Another time I felt suicidal due to being in an abusive relationship and having no hope of ever getting away.

...whether studies say it works or not. And I am angry as all get out that this was not made available to me 11 years ago instead of those f*cking SSRI's that literally destroyed my life, my business, the relationships with most of my friends, my health. Forgive my language. I am disgusted...

Curcumin and turmeric instead of traditional ssri?

I've read that curcumin(an extract from turmeric) can treat ptsd. Has anyone tried this instead of or in addition to other medications? Would you recommend it? Thanks!

Is “chemical imbalance” proved with scientific evidence?

...proven to state there is an imbalance that requires chemical (pharmaceutical) intervention. Yes, it was all pharma based and got tossed out when SSRI's hit the spotlight in relation to a judge ordering tertiary establishments to release unpublished reports, which undermined the entire...

That’s not much of anything. There are non SSRI antidepressants There are antipsychotics There are mood stabilizers Keep trying.

    Too many tears?

...an option I’m going to see my doctor about. I’m extremely reluctant because of a rare and dangerous side effect I had the last time I was on an SSRI. I can fight through the depression symptoms except the crying. I’m teary at the drop of a hat. My therapist is a little worried. I cried in...

Prozac/fluoxetine vs other ssris for ptsd

...else. It really is trial and error. I do feel they have given me the lift to start EMDR even though it’s a bit stop and start. I first took a SSRI when I was 18 when I first was diagnosed with PTSD and I tried to take my life but this might not be the only factor which tipped me over the...

Ssri - makes me really sensitive, and also bad socially?? advice welcome

This reminds me a close friend with manic depression, he got a very similar experience when he started with low dose topiramate that both stabilized him, and it was quite anxiolytic also, but made him akward in the same way you describe. He got very loud, and he would say the first (not always...

    How do you stop overthinking?

...However, if you find that all these distracts don't help you change your mental channel, you may want to consider medication. I'm on a daily SSRI, and I find that it helps me the most with my anxiety. I was diagnosed with GAD long before I got PTSD. The medication pretty much stops me from...

Sufferer Hi everyone! i have gad and i cant stop hyperventilating.

...they had to keep me on Ativan to treat sudden panic attacks that were way out of control. In the meantime they were switching me around from SSRI to SSRI a couple of weeks at a time to determine which one would have an effect. They did not put me on Klonapin or Xanax at that time because...

Struggling with new ssri side effects

...just the body/brain changing in response to the medicine? Transitions can take weeks or months, right? What's your experience with starting a new SSRI and experiencing side effects? Did you stick with it? Was it worth it? Did a dose change work? (Doc said increase in a week if I feel up for it.)

Why do people stop their medication cold turkey?

I've done it with three separate meds, a different reason for each. Paxil (Paroxatine HCL. SSRI) Reason: Couldn't afford to keep taking it. That went poorly. I got damn near every symptom of the discontinuation syndrome in spades. Including random sudden suicidal urges. I believed I was past...

Sufferer Existing -ptsd/cptsd- childhood trauma & munchausen by proxy - monophobia & agoraphobia

...took and stopped? Were they benzos? Agoraphobia and dearealization can happen as a result of benzo withdrawal. I experienced psychosis from an SSRI. So, my point is all of this may not be you, but may be a result of coming off of psych meds. Also, PTSD symptoms can get worse when you look at...

    Fluoxetine

The loose stools may be related to serotonin syndrome from SSRI. The stiffness can be from muscle neurons being off balance. Serotonin acts as a fire fire fire. and others act as a cease fire stop chill out relax messenger. Muscles fail to relax and i am on baclofen for that. I am facing the...

    Parenting with ptsd

@ladee I do take meds. I take SSRI, Antipsychotic that is supposed boost the SSRI, and Valium. I take it as prescribed every day. I also see a T that is amazing. She told me I need to get out more and make friends and start taking my son in public alone. We've talked at great length about...

I am supposed to be better after 12 weeks?

Isn’t hydroxyzine one of the meds that can cause pharmacological hyperprolactemia? Yep. Just checked. Although it’s an uncommon side effect, meanwhile the correlation to other drugs is much stronger.

Sufferer Hi everyone! i have gad and i cant stop hyperventilating.

I hear that. I have had all that in the past. The only good thing for me is clonopin to help and long term SSRI's. I am hopeful to get past this in the next few months. Seriously sucks. Im doing exposure excersises daily. Running a lot to. How long have you been in recovery, have they ever went...

I'm starting to shut down sharing my inner life with my husband...

Husb is CPTSD with social anxiety. I am CPTSD too. He went off his meds without warning, cold turkey, and didn't tell me. SSRI, so he emotionally soured almost immediately, told me after 2 weeks (of being nasty and having episodes again) he booted the pills. Here's where I am at: Forward...

    The Circle Is Complete

...It's generally well tolerated (both getting on and off), no-where near as difficult to discontinue as trazadone (IME), and is also not an SSRI.
