New Here
You read correctly. Here's the back ground. I've been bullied for the past three years at my job. I'm highly acknowledgeable in my clinical area. A young brand new Social Worker- non-clinical was hired 3-1/2 years ago. I trained her in. We were doing well til she grabbed the union book opened to the hourly wage pay scale, looked at me and said "you make a lot of money" I told her I get paid very well for what I do and I make sure the company gets their moneys worth. Not the right thing to say to someone that feels she does what I do and even better. And at that time and still makes about 12.00/hour less. I'm a 30 year RN, and she a new SW. After 6 months the communication and the collaboration regarding patients started to dwindle, of course brought to the attention of our boss. We have the same boss, and had 7 in the last 4 years. There has been no stability of bosses to figure out that she is bullying me or to even care. I do have to give her credit, she knew that the bosses were here for only a short time and she could keep up the chaos.
To make a long story short the past year and 1/2 the SW had directed charting to be altered in two patients chart. Both times an internal and corporate investigation was done. My complaints were found correct but they were not going to do anything about it. HR said "everybody will get education on not to change charting" I told her I know that- and it is illegal. They want to educate the honest ones- give me a break.
I had a mental breakdown in April this year went on meds to cope, and when my 7th boss wanted me to be complicit with altered charting I just lost it. My license could be taken away. Ive been on leave for 9 weeks not much better, went to a psychologist after my current boss said "nothing is going to change" That's when my new T said above. It would be you going back to a known abuser. You can't do that. Asked to extend leave to the new year and was approved. Therapy here I come. I want my life back, I want my joy back.
It just came to me tonight- I thought reporting it to corporate was a whistleblower, but no its just another layer to deny it. This needs to go to the State. Oh boy. Any thoughts. I will even take hugs.

I think it's super smart not to go back to somewhere that is altering charts, and management is complicit. That's your license on the line, and if management is backing the illegal charting? They're sure as hell not going to have your back if the shit hits the fan. Esp I f you're senior medical // The newbies & management blame will get transferred to you as the person who trained them, and oversaw their work. I very strongly agree with your therapist. Extend your leave as long as possible, and report them to their boards, if possible. At the very least, keep something in writing, so if you come under review you've CYA.

I'm sorry you are going through this. You can of course report up through the corporate and state channels. You also may want to look for a position elsewhere. In my personal opinion, I'd rather see you in a collaborative, friendly environment where you feel valued that to continue to put yourself through this. protect yourself with your leave of absence and report if you feel that is what you want to do.
many many hugs for you.

I'm covered for FMLA to 12/12. been thinking of what my resignation letter will say. Its over 2 pages already. I think I will research EEOC. The Board of SW has been notified, and JACHO some how is aware too.

What I have learned, the hard way, is that many many people don't really care about the truth.

Of course, they talk like they do, but under the thin veneer they are quite willing to bend ethics, morality, etc...

You know, often trouble-makers are PROMOTED b/c no one knows what else to do with them, so they pass the buck.

I have seen so much bullsh*t over the years, nothing surprises me anymore.

Denial, lying, backstabbing, jealousy, pettiness, and so on.

I feel badly for you:(

@neverthought JCAHO being aware is a big deal for the corporate, because if they know records are being doctored, they will lose or not get accreditation, which can be really important to the folks in corporate. Two pages is a lot, sometimes less is more, the less you say the less they have to try to turn things against you. It would seem to me a simple letter that simply details why you are resigning, being they are doctoring the records, and its a hostile work environment, and you can't engage in the illegal activity they are engaging in.

I'm very sorry for what you are going through. It sounds like a nightmare.
We were doing well til she grabbed the union book opened to the hourly wage pay scale, looked at me and said "you make a lot of money"
Are you and she governed by the same union? I don't know that it would be useful to also report the history there. Maybe not.

And, outside of your workplace, can you/have you made a full disclosure to the RN licensing board in your state? Again, I have no clue whether that would even be relevant, just am thinking about ways it would be good for you to make sure that your future overall isn't jeopardized. This is probably not what you want to hear, but it's my impression that good, experienced RNs are valued everywhere in the US, and I hope if you need to find another job that it's not too terribly hard.

I'm very sorry for what you are going through. It sounds like a nightmare.
Are you and she governed...
Yes we are in the same union- I have been a conscious objector and am not representable. This is also the problem the union covering for her. I did call my Board of nursing in May and they said I have to file a complaint with the SW board. Done and did get a letter back from them and said it could take a year. The thing that really gets me is they choose dishonest over integrity. And I'm the one who has to leave for sanity. uggh
