Congratulations to all of you trying to quit smoking. It is hard. I am really proud of you and I am rooting for you all.

After a very long pattern of quits, I quit for 5 years and a few months... smoked one during my last traumatic break and got totally rehooked. It has been something I have intermittantly tried to do for a really long time. I have 4 days under my belt with no cheats or nicotine replacement or meds. Today is my 5th day and if at first you don't succed, try --- try again. And keep trying until you stop ingesting toxic poison into your body. We all got enough troubles, or at least I know I do.

Had to laugh about the "more air diet"... but it hit pretty close to home for me. Best wishes for everyone's success and very glad you started this thread Azure Mind.

Well done Alba and Gizmo! Wow you both amaze me with your strength and will power to overcome so much and to then keep overcoming! Seriously impressed and inspired!

Cheering the 'more air diet'! I am feeling more motivate today because of all of you. I am GOING to do this! I am going to keep TRYING regardless of how many times I fall flat on my face in the process. I will join you lovely ladies in 'overcoming' this...I will have 'clean air'!

Oh, man. . .you all are going force me to quit, dang it.
Heh Zef... that would be awful, huh? Just for fun, (I actually did this the first time I had a successful long term quit)... for two weeks stick every cigarrette butt you smoke into a jar with some water in it and set it by your computer, put it on your coffee table if you're in the living room, I even took mine to work and stuck it in the desk drawer of my desk. Every time I smoked a cig for two weeks I stuck the butt in the jar. When I decided my quit day every time I wanted a cig, I looked at that jar instead. Yeah it still, took me about 10 more "quit days" but I got a 5 year quit out of that little trick.

This time it was totally unplanned, it just happened... probably because I am more afraid of pneumonia than I am quitting smoking.

we came so close to buying a pack of smokes. It has been 6months for us. So we are gritting our teeth and riding this one out. Often I do not think about it, but it hits at after meals and first thing in the morning. I really want to quit. We have been doing so well. I am crossing my fingers.
