I had a good walk today with one of my favorite people. Probably had too much coffee though. I was reading that coffee increases cortisol, but tea seems to decrease it. Has anyone noticed feeling calmer with tea? (Caffeinated; sometimes I feel like I need a bit of that due to medication.)
I'm on board. I always feel so much better if I can just get a walk and some sunlight everyday. The weather has been really snowy and cold and icy lately though, so I've been walking around the track at the gym. There are a lot of windows onto the surrounding fields and it's relaxing, just walking around and around without any decisions about where to turn at crossroads, like when walking outside (yes, I have trouble making decisions, LOL!).
@greenleaf, I had to drop all caffeine except the stuff in tea... and then I limit it. Tea does make me calm down, but I think it's something about the process or the memories of my Grandmother making me tea... not necessarily the tea itself, but who knows? ;)
@Definitely..maybe, I definitely think that walking keeps the crazy at bay, maybe. ;) I have a lot of crazy... and have been know to walk around my neighborhood for an hour or two at times. I also find it's nice to stop by the nearby pond and ground myself while watching the Canadian geese. Nature is healing, I think. Great idea for a thread! :joyful:
Well... I got dressed in workout clothes and went over to the gym and did some jogging/walking. It was good. Thanks for the inspiration... all too often I put it off and then it doesn't happen. I was happy to get some exercise in.
EverOnly, great job getting to the gym! It's very cold and snowy here too, major storm hitting here tonight so no gym - I only walked up a hill from the bus today, but at least it was a walk. We might get 10 inches of snow tonight. Regular walks or gym time make it easier to walk in the nicer weather in addition to the bump in temporary sanity... :-)
That is a great thing to do in bad weather especially, EverOnly. I did so much snow shoveling yesterday that today I am sore and resting up... Well I did pick up a cat to hug, does that count? Tomorrow I will exercise.
I actually think that all counts! Snow shoveling is a lot more strenuous than walking or jogging. And I know hugging my Guinea pigs always cheers me up, they're hilarious. And there's something about walking around the mall that's always more fun than the track at the gym... but then, I LOVE to shop, LOL!
Yeah, exactly, @Definitely..maybe... I have great walking paths around my house, but it's too snowy and icy at the moment. It's harder to get to the gym, but I did manage to make it there this morning, and I got in 35 minutes of walking and jogging. Yay me! I'm really liking this thread... the accountability really works for me.
I love Guinea pigs, they're hysterical. :playful: They all seem to have PTSD... every one I've ever seen is hypervigilant and freaks out when anyone stands over them. We have a lot in common, LOL! ;) How many Guinea pigs did you have? (Ooops, sorry if that's off topic. :speechless:)
