I KNEW IT. I KNEW you would respond like that!It doesn’t. The mantra on this forum is take what’s helpful, leave the rest. Feel free to ignore all my advice. That’s totally okay with me.
Paranoia and delusion are like cognitive distortions: they’re very hard to spot yourself, until someone teaches you how to spot them. You can get treatment for whatever is causing them (depending on the cause - like I said, there’s several possibilities), and you can also be taught how better to spot them yourself and work around them. It’s unlikely you’ll do either of those things successfully without the assistance of a therapist with professional training in how to do that.
It’s entirely possible that you are just as intelligent as you’ve always known and you have some paranoid or delusional thoughts. Smart people get sick just like stupid people do - illness is unbiased when it comes to intelligence.
In this reply, Sideways completely and totally ignored what happened to me at the treatment center. I was suspicious of this person from the moment they denied the phone call being related to abuse. This person was a pro-therapist this whole time. That’s why they pushed away what I said about not trusting therapists and professionals.
I know why they responded like that. I bet this person is themselves a therapist, or at least was at some point. So when I said I don’t trust therapists, it was like me saying I don’t trust them from their perspective.
I was expecting a reply more of like what Eve said. They told me I had grandoise thinking, which I expected because I was flaunting my intelligence. That’s what a normal person would say. But no, Sideways actually encouraged my intelligence. They twisted it to their advantage by saying that even smart people can be mentally ill and should seek treatment.
NO, I didn’t actually believe them when they told me I was delusional. Lol. I didn’t actually consider me being delusional in that post I made, I already know my disorder. And no I’m not sharing what it is (some people are getting a bit too close). I knew what this person was trying to do. They called me paranoid to convince to me I needed professional help. This is what all therapists do to try and get patients to stay longer with them.
But the fact that a moderator told me that? Someone directly tied to the site?
No.
No no no.
This website isn’t a support group for PTSD. That’s not the reality. This is a pro-ptsd website. That’s it. This isn’t myptsd. This is myproptsd. They encourage people to get PTSD treatment cause this is a pro ptsd website. That’s what all trauma therapists want in the first place.
Guys, I’m going to discount everything sideways said in this thread. I’m standing by my decision to block my old therapist. One thing I have to say, I am impressed that Sideways even said all this considering I literally said I can detect manipulation in my first post here. It didn’t turn out well, but still.
Also an update. My new therapist stopped talking to me. Oh crap. She’s ignoring all my phone calls. This is getting very interesting, looks like I might have to get a new therapist soon.
