Ohh @TheBubzilla , that is my kind of place !!! Living in rural Texas, there are so many places to walk and just BE. right now it is too hot to do much unless early morning or late evening. but lots of 'roads less traveled'. They are my fav's. Love that picture. thank you for sharing it..

@FauxLiz , your place is beautiful too. I can see setting there and just breathing. Tho I prefer woods to water, it's a very calming picture. Glad you have that place to go to.

Thank you both for sharing your pictures... grateful hugs to both of you.:hug:

@ladee thanks, for me I like the wide open spaces. Grew up in the wide open plains of SW Kansas but living in Michigan there is nothing but woods, forests (what I call man made wooded areas) and buildings in most other places but I get out to the shoreline of Lake Michigan and I finally feel like I can breath without everything closing in on me.

Ya, snakes are seeking wet cool places right now. So, stuck in the house for another month, then things will start to cool down. But we can DREAM, and have something to look forward to.

Getting to live in a rural area is so perfect for me at this stage of my life. Just a few miles and I'm out of town. And if you grew up in Kansas, I bet your feel claustrophobic not having an open space to look at. So the shoreline is breathing space. It is a beautiful picture , I could 'smell' how cleansing it is.

@ladee this one is for you. Kansas harvest photo from the family farm this year. Great sunset and wide open spaces.

I have to admit, I love using photography to rewire my moods, but walking barefoot in the sand on a freezing cold morning with no one else around is pretty cathartic too.
In this picture, my dog gets to meet medium sized waves of about 1.5m, and given he's only ever experience the ocean in a sheltered bay, there was a fair bit of WTAF on his part which had us laughing!

but exercise or any sort of intense physical activity does wonders
Just realised I was kinda missing the point....
I'd like to note that you ARE right and physical activity of any kind is wonderful for PTSD, I personally walk for 55+min a day and I ride horses for 2 hours once a week.

I think it's about finding the type of exercise that is perfect for the individual.

I've definitely been guilty of trying one thing and writing the whole topic off as a bad effort.
