I recently found a website that has really been helpful, the author of the blog really resonates with me and my experience with narcissistic abuse from my mother. I signed up to get emails tailored for my areas of imorovement in healing from the trauma I endured. There is an assessment to take that identiufies these areas. Just thought I would share.... http://www.narcissisticmother.com

Please be aware that it is against the law to copy another persons content, even upon the web, and replicate it in full, or partially greater than a small percentage - each country is unique with the exact percentage with the average being 10%. To share any such information her you must cite the author and create a link to the remaining full-text article for further reading. You can paraphrase the content yourself, without citing anything, providing the text is not word for word as per the author, and is in your own words being an interpretation of what was written.

It is also a breach of privacy to post the content of an email received from another person publicly without their consent. I have edited your post and removed the content.

okay....well I can't post the url because I don't have a high enough post count and the emails are mass emails sent to anyone who wants to sign up for them. By tailored I mean you get the mass emails that most pertain to you. but ok.

I did a google search on the authors name and found the blog just fine. There isn't any problem with referring to an author and the content of their blog without quoting any of it, is there?

Not trying to be a PITA but I am curious about the letter of the law and was unaware of the restrictions, mainly because I have never referred to sources away from the internal quotes we all use.

The definition of narcissist as a disorder is interesting reading, and after years of describing the actions of my parents I am amazed that no one has clued me in to the idea that they might fit the definition. They both fit it in so many ways.

I have to wonder just how many extremely religious people are in fact narcissists feeding their need for superiority and approval by being holier than those around them and condescending towards all that fail to measure up. I can clearly see the parallels in the actions of my parents and their leaders, the famous cult masterminds we are all aware of, the false prophets that have popped up through history, even the current crop of "hot tub philosophers" that pop up every day. Nothinhg new under the sun, I am seeing that the classic cult leader and cult follower personality has much in common with the DSM definition of a narcisssistic disorder sufferer.

No.

The letter of the law is this. It is illegal by law to copy anothers copyrighted works and reproduce them without their written consent. That is the law. By law, you are however allowed to copy no more than 10% (average across different percentages countries allow) and cite the source, whether by name or link... you just have to cite it.

Normally, being the web, if you reproduce 10% or less and want people to read the full source, we just link it. Obviously there are restrictions for new members though... so naming the person does the same thing typically... like you said @enough, Google them and you find quickly enough.

The electronic problem is called a DMCA, and they're legally binding in most countries. They're the beginning to a copyright infringement case. Remove it, or go to court, in other words. Be a repeat offender and your host will shut you down. Thus staff edit such content when copied word for word beyond 10% of the source.

@enough I didn't know anything about narcissitic personality disorder until February of this year, when I was enduring yet another bout of my mother's narc rage/withdrawl/guilt tripping abuse because I told her I only wanted my husband with me in the delivery room the day of my daughter's birth. someone on another forum clued me in....it really was a wake up call.

I discussed the narcissism thing with my wife today, after reading more and doing some research on other sources besides the mentioned blog and wikipedia. I had to wonder if she saw a narcisist in my father, and she said yes, but I was missing the big clue- The relationships between my narcisist stepmother and her own daughters and my maternal sister are right out of the pages of the blog and the other sources I have found so far.

So, just to comment on how this all effects me, there is no gender limiting factors here. Narcissism between male parents and male children is also harmful, having two narcisist parents is a possibility and a narcissist stepmother that controls the actions of an already narcicissistic father through the use of her religion is the recipe for my disaster.

This has been a huge day for me, I see my T tomorrow (a new one) and I am hoping we can use this new light to illuminate a path outta here.

Sometimes the clues come so fast you feel like you are leading yourself "down the garden path" to an erronious conclusion. Sometimes, but not this time. This is like the day someone told me I fit the mold for PTSD and I said "whats that?"

Thanks Thanks Thanks for posting. You did someone some good today- I hope you can enjoy my gratitude. it is genuine and heartfelt.

I totally agree with the garden path thing! I'm glad to have helped in some small way. I was told I fit the mold for PTSD 2 years before my wake up call. The only reason they didnt hand out the PTSD diagnosis then was because they couldn't identify the trauma... I feel emotional abuse, and narcissistic abuse in particular, is grossly overlooked and swept aside. I really hope your new T can help you sort things out. A good T that "gets it" makes all the difference in the world!
