Afraid to try zoloft

My p-doc wants me to try zoloft. He also gave me xanax. I am having fears of the antidepressant. Will it make me gain weight? Will it make me feel sick? He said that until you get all the way up to full dose you won't notice results. My T likes doing a low dose to keep the edge off, but doesn't necessarily agree with the large dose. But why am I so reluctant to even try it at all?

Everyone is different I didn't gain any weight on Zoloft and I was all the way up to 200mg at one point. It did give me some stomach problems for the first week or so and when I was increased but that subsided quite quickly. It didn't really help for me but no other antidepressant has either :(
