My Pdoc recommended that I see one of the therapists at her facility, which is a Family Practice. They are incorporating mental health into family practice, which is awesome. I met my new therapist, and I liked her for the most part, and she has a ton of info on how to get financial help when you are disabled.
The second appointment she was half an hour late, and unapologetic. She tried to put it on me, saying I checked in late, but she told me I could check in 5 minutes prior to the appointment time. When you see a doc, you check in 15 minutes early. I reminded her of that. She said their appointments are only 30 minutes long. I told her that wouldn't work for me. She then said they give her an hour per patient, which includes her little 10 minute break between patients, so she often manages to give her patients 50 minutes, which is the standard. As a nurse, I often worked 12 hours without any break except to pee, and had no break between patients no matter how sick they were, so I have no sympathy there, but I know how it works. She said she may be pulled out and would be late sometimes, but not often.
I'm not comfortable with this. At all. However, she has a lot of info I need right now on how to get services. I know there are other ways, but she has given me such valuable info so far it has been worth seeing her. I don't know if I should keep going if I am so uncomfortable with the situation or not. I will now check in the requisite 15 minutes and have to wait an additional 10 minutes for her "break". So I get there 25 minutes before she sees me. I'm bringing my service dog out of retirement, and will bring her to therapy.
So I guess I'm looking for thoughts about keeping her when I already have trust issues.
