Anyone try Ketamine assisted therapy with PTSD & ADHD?

Thinning of trying it.

I have had ketamine infusions before for a physical problem with no therapy about 15-20 years ago. Hated it. Haaaated it. Hated what it did to my head. Hated every second of it. The out of body k-hole experience was like walking to the edge of death and back in a gnarly way. It also worked for the physical illness and saved my ability to walk, run, etc. I also had calmer PTSD symptoms then.

I’m desperate and would walk through hell to feel better.

Considering it again at lower doses and very not sure…

I have Cptsd and adhd and they were the only thing that has ever worked. I have a lot of childhood trauma and I’ve been told they tend to work very well with that issue. It’s sad how expensive they make them. The ketamine itself only costs $20 or so and the doctors don’t do any follow ups after the initial consultation. It does feel like a scam and the doctors pretty much prove they are only in it for the money, but it works.

My t absolutely forbade it for me. She says it works well with one or two trauma ptsd, but once you cross into complex type it can cause psychosis. Same thing with MDMA and now mushrooms.

The VA has approved MDMA and I think ketamine, but I heard yesterday that the FDA says no because there isn't a benefit. Don't it figure

My t's biggest issue is that I dissociate so quickly that I could actually get stuck there and they wouldn't be able to get me back. Which really made me sad because I've heard such amazing things from the veteran world on those using mdma for ptsd and ketamine for anxiety

Have you looked into the ganglion spinal block? I've only met a couple people who have had it for ptsd but they swear its a game changer.

Tried it. Not the right path for me at all. Ah well. Sigh.
You’d probably do very well with MDMA, then.

K & E crowds almost neeeeever mix. Either one, or the other, but almost no crossover (IE no double yes, nor double no). Which is a rare enough phenomenon to be noticeable, when the venom diagram are 2 distant/distinct circles.

Similar to, anecdotally (but K & E is such a strong anti-correlation it’s statistically), how there are the psilocybin/mescaline/peyote/opium crowd & the ayahuasca crowd (nearly zero crossover), but neither crowd predicts one’s reaction to LSD. Some from each like & dislike it. So it creates a wacky little venn diagram that looks a bit like Mickey Mouse!

I have had Ketamine therapy and it helped with depression. However, I think I was given too much and while under the influence during more than one treatment, I had bad experiences. During the last treatment, a "portal" opened up and I saw myself laying in a casket. I could not move, did not know where I was at and thought I was dead. I did hear the nurse come in and hear her say "he's out of it" which further intensified the experience. Will never do a high dose again. Worst experience of my life. The benefits were also temporary.

@PlainJane im curious because I have a potential new t that does it. Do you do low doses. Does the t stay with you. Do you do talk therapy while it’s affecting you?
It's my understanding they go by body weight and slowly increase the dose as your treatments progress. Different Dr's may be different. At high doses I was having trouble with balance walking out of the office, but the symptoms wore off in a few hours for me.

Yes, they call it low doses, but it's based off body weight.

Does the t stay with you.
Depends on the clinic. I know there are some that line people up and just shoot and go. The clinic I go to to is very involved and thorough. That said, I do "self guided" where I am in a room and I am alone and they just check in peridocally. It's cheaper that way, but the offer having the option of being fully present. It was required for my first session for them to be fully present to make sure I could handle doing it by myself. Also, they only have one room they offer this in, so it's not like they're running ten at time or anything. I am trying EMDR directly after, which they do not offer to everybody or even have Advertised, for the lack of a better word.
