Very true comments everyone.

PTSD makes it so much harder to step out as often we are frightened of the backlash. This is what I am learning in art group, to enjoy what I am doing and not to worry about what others think of my work. to be honest, most people are encouraging and when they offer advice it is constructive and I am learning.

Movin'On, you are right. We tend to believe the bad stuff all to easily. It is time I believed in myself and my abilities. You can't please everyone and when one person criticises another will praise. I like advice and correction when it is done in the right spirit as it helps me to improve and learn new skills. But I also need to believe in myself and I think I actually am starting to.

Heat Mapped Church in the Mountains.webp
For those who enjoy a contemporary church. This is supposed to represent a church in the fall, when the colors are brightest and most beautiful! It is a "heat mapped" photo using Picasa 3 software.

I do not generally enjoy a contemporary church, but I like this one a LOT! My eyes glaze over when softwear gets introduced- it's forever a mystery, which probably adds to the enjoyment with this.

Thank you, Sheila, Merry Christmas back!

Your church made me think again, like anything else on the planet, it's all about perspective, isn't it? I'm not crazy about contemporary churches only because I'm a huge history Geek- show me an old building and I'm the rodent scurrying around in it's attic. Your treatment of contemporary sheds another light, which is pretty much what art is all about.

Hee- and someday someone will be veiwing this building as worthy of scurrying in the attic. Wierd thought.

Anni, here is the interior of that Cathollic church, which might be of interest to you:

This photo does not begin to do it justice, but it is an idea of how awesome it must be to be inside of it!

Now that Nave is indeed just stunning, thank you! Dad used to dislike the old churches, I think really the Victorian ones because of what he termed ' Schmaltz '. I disliked the 60's, form-follows-function structures, always feel so cold or something, you know? There's still that school out there, not just churches but habitations also. The metal/glass/concrete minimalist thing- screechingly expensive for some reason, also SO lacking in sheer soul. This one seems to have followed what you'd think the natural progression of things would be. GOSH it's simple yet beautiful, isn't it? Love the full glass wall with just enough non-unity to make it interesting all by itself, plus the floating island of an altar.

The whole thing- makes me aware of the fact that modern can exude warmth and peace also. Nice.
