This has come up a few times on here, so I figure I'll just start a new thread with some links.
This stuff helps me through the hypervigilant too much attention to detail phases. The end results are really cool too. All you need is a a cutting board, an exacto knife and scissors, a color printer and some paper and some glue!
I really like model kits, but they are expensive. Like many of you I am short on fun money quite often. Particualrly as the weather changes this sort of thing helps me out:

Please dont laugh too hard! A lot of it is really cutesy shit, but a lot of the animal models are really cool. I have built all the birds, the sea turtle, the iguana, and all of the beetles. I am also working on the pegasus, but it is pretty hard core. I'm on my third attempt at that beast. I did the coelacanth too, but I am going to blow that one up to life size and do it over.

I did four of them, one of which is life size. Now my dining room table has a galapagos display on it....
The sea turtle is bad assed also. I changed the sizes when I printed it out, made the little ones print in black and grey scale, and then glued them all together and mounted them on a piece of driftwood. A whole "family" if you will. Was offered 100 bucks for it, so I sold it. Not bad for a few hours cutting paper.
Some of these models are really simple kid stuff, but those are the ones you should do to practice. The advanced ones can be downright frustrating, so go easy at first.
There are a ton of sites out there with FREE paper models.
I like these alot, but they are hardcore advanced. I built all the mass Effect Models, almost all the Aliens models, and am working on the Skyrim dragon- but that one is a serious bitch...

This is the beat to end all geek paper modeling. I want to build it, but haven't had the time, or the cash to have it properly printed. My little home inkjet would run me broke thanks to ink cost , but check this shit out. Fun to dream ain't it?
