I was 15, I had been raped since I was the age 5 and started getting very depressed and tried killing myself many times as well as being angry at the world. Back then I hadnt told anyone about my rape of my uncle it was a boyfriend who raped me that I told my mom and the hospital about as I was pregnant.

I was diagnosed at 50 (which is what I am now). Reading this thread has been really helpful because I think that for many of us that are older when we are diagnosed it may be a matter of running out of gas in a way. At least for me I think that was it. I held it together for so long - as the abuse and trauma began in early childhood - it was like someone else said, a last straw or a few last straws that just did it. I couldn't cope any longer and ended up suicidal and in a psychiatriatic office. I think if you lack the proper coping tools, it may eventually catch up with you.
