I've tried to explain not coming back to my friends. They say of course you're back, you're standing right there. Parts of me yes, but not all, never. I don't think any of us escaped whole. Best one can do is push all the pieces together and get through the day.

I completely agree Sarg -- I usually correct, or at least, apply an asterisk, to any numbers promoted by DoD, the VA, or any medical or government agency. I don't buy the 20% or 15% BS. The beast operates on a continium with its own cycles, and some may seem worse and some better, but all are affected by the experience of combat

I think what helped me, big time was coming to the realization that I am forever changed..different. The boy that went to war, came back a different man. Different class. I don't really care if those, not in that class understand or not. I am a changed being forever.. I embrace it, i am proud of what, myself and all of us did. :)

I've also adjusted the embracing it a bit as far as looking for positves: the whole experience has made me a far stronger person (TRUTH: what doesn't kill you makes you stronger) and more aware of things I refused to look at before (bureaucrats/cronyism, military industirial complex abuse, definition of good leadership (meaning how many Generals suck). I am too proud of our service and responding when we were called upon to do what we were trained regardless of the messed up politics and crony BS behind it. We served and we have a bond no one else can understand.

It also gave me new purpose after getting screwed over by the pentagon phonies phat @$$ desk jockeys -- to realize just how badly others got screwed over and to help them one-at-a-time find some light or hope. Giving is getting. And there are so many that need our camraderie. We are best when we work together.

Isn't it a bit ironic when some dude goes off the deep end and gets banned but we continue to use the thread he started to address the questions he posed. :cool:(n);):p
